Kaim could only smile and shake his head. Like to feel rooted, eh? He could not see what was so appealing about that or the day to day routine one found in the Weyr. He'd grow bored so quickly in a place like this, even with a high turn over of people. Kaim was a performer, he needed to travel, perhaps more than others. To pick up new stories and acts, to subject new people to his performances. Being in a single place would not be productive in his line of work. At least Jansen could so easily become absorbed in his work, for days on end. All he needed was a piece of wood and he could produce something astonishing.
"Oh dear... such a pause and indifference to those you're closest to." Kaim could not read the way she had said 'friends only' as anything other than indifference. "Despite what people say about we Caminar, we always know who has our back and that we'll look out for one another. By the looks of it... you may not be so fortunate." Kaim said, his voice tinged with pity. This girl should have someone, several someones, close. Kaim couldn't imagine what life would be like with his family or friends.
Jansen had now set down all his tools, the bracelet was almost as good as knew. He was now polishing and cleaning it up.

Salina shrugged glancing away, not wanting to feel the pity in the look directed her way. "I take care of myself and other people. I feed them, clothe them, heal them. I do the same for myself. I don't need anyone to have my back." She smiled at him, eyes slightly sad, though she tried to hide it.
"There is no indifference. It just means I have no mother or father or siblings or cousins. I don't need them. I have the people of my Weyr." She shrugged again, eyes distant, looking over the field. She didn't tell Kaim that was was only fifteen and that people didn't like her, didn't like how mature and capable she was. That was why they stayed away. She was the little mother and as such, no one thought of taking care of her.
"So..." she hedged, feeling a bit uncomfortable with the turn of events. They weren't supposed to talk about her. "What else? Is there anything else I can take away from meeting a very pleasant Caminar man?"
