It was an especially windy day and that played havoc with flight overhead. It had not done so much for landing either. Kalpeth had done fine in the air having long since become expert at using the gusts to her advantage. It was the landing part that threw her off. With her one leg injured back during weyrlinghood they always had to be careful. This time they were not careful enough.
G’tet had barely waited for his heart to slow before he was off Kalpeth and checking out her leg. Are you sure it’s ok? Shall we go see the healer? Do you want to rest here? No matter how many times they had a bumpy landing he always acted the same.
I am fine. Let’s rest here awhile and then I could use a bath. Kalpeth’s green hide was dusty on the bottom from the dirt thrown up from her wings and her generally less than graceful landing. Happy to let her rest, G’tet settled on the ground beside her. The wing continued its drills overhead and the Weyr moved on around them, but the greenrider was left to his own thoughts for the moment.

((Don't take offence with Ezieki XD he's callous...))
He gone with father, to the weyr. His Father was displaying his distaste for the Caminar, one of his closer relatives had lost one of their children, but the cousin of Ezieki had never been fond of Gerin, he was a brat, and was always ill presented. Ezieki had been left outside as his father spoke with various people within the weyr, trying to find a way to speak with the weyrleader on such short notice.
The weyr was a place he wasn't used to being within the realms of. So many dragons; seemingly one of the wings was practicing it's thread fighting. He watched as the various colours went about doing what they done best, and it had never been clearer to him of how agile greenss were in comparison to Bronzes, or how strong a bronze was incomparison to a blue. But working together, they managed very nicely, each colour correcting the faults of another.
But one of the greens wasns't doing to well, she flew well, but as she came in for landing, she fumbled something, Ezieki wasn't sure as to what, but it looked like the green wasns't to good at the moment. Curiousity got the better of him, and despite his father's warning not to 'approach anyone, especially girls.' Well, this was a lesser case, surely, for despite being a green rider, the rider of the dragon was male, so, surely that was an exception?
Approaching the dragon and his bonded, he recognised they might be a little aggressive when the dragon was injured. "She ok?" Ezieki asked, looking at the green from a distance, "Looked like she had a bit of an off landing there... Not that I know much about dragons." Ezieki confessed his ignorance.
He caught a glance at the rider, male, chestnut hair, scar on his chin - fairly stocky despite being deceptively tall. Ezieki couldn't help but think that this rider was a little over masculine... he wasn't exactly graced with good looks, but he wasn't bad looking, striking perhaps. But Ezieki felt that this rider was a little dull. But first impressions could be deceptive.

Unaware of being observed, or at least unconcerned at the same, G’tet continued on as he had been. Which is to say he was doing nothing at all. If Kalpeth had hurt herself further he would know but this just seemed a case of an old wound troubling her. Bothersome, sure, but no reason to rush her to be looked at by anyone.
Will we fly again? was asked in a worried tone by the green who could never remember that she had a bag leg and that it had been that way since the pair were in weyrlinghood. Of course we will. We’re just resting. We’ll fly again soon. After your bath. In case she had forgotten she wanted one. Further conversation was interrupted by the arrival of a young man. G’tet stood when he was spoken to in order to even out the height between him and the man.
“She’s fine,” G’tet answered with a pat to Kalpeth’s flank. “Got hurt back when she was younger is all and sometimes she forgets that when landing.” He pauses to rest his hand on the green’s side. “G’tet and Kalpeth. Don’t think I’ve seen you around? Brought in to stand?” It was the obvious assumption to make since the Weyr was swirling with candidates it seemed. Well, and Caminar, but this fellow was definitely not Caminar.

The green's bonded - G'tet was perhaps a little ill-turned out, but, he was friendly enough. "And I am Ezieki." He introduced himself with a brief smile, "And no, you wouldn't have seen or met me, I'm not from the Weyr. And, again No. I've not been brought to stand, that'd be all too obvious." He smirked - amused with himself. His tone a little cocky before the green rider.
"No, no, my father's trying to grasp the ear of the Weyrleader, try to make him listen to his views on this Caminar situation." He informed G'tet. "Not that he'd have anything of particular value to add to the Weyrleader thoughts." Ezieki dispaired of his father sometimes.
"I am, though, glad to hear she will be okay. Kalpeth, she has a fine name. It would be a shame to see a dragon as fine as she is be injured badly by such an unfortunate and trivial error..." He spoke with confidence, possibly beyond him, but he could carry it off. "I'm from Telgar, my father thihnks he is more important than he is, because he's a rather successful trader in the hold. Though in comparison to the weyrleader, well..." He faded off, even G'tet could understand what he was trying to suggest about his father, "I was just brought along for the ride as it were. I think my father feels he neglects me." Ezieki laughed, humoured at the prospect.

“How so obvious?” G’tet asked with a grin. “Candidates forget their knots sometimes and arrive right up to the hatching. It stands to reason I mightn’t have seen one or two myself even if my sister is one.” There was something about Ezieki, something he couldn’t quite put his finger on, that bugged him. Ah, well, it’s not important. He’s just being polite.
At her rider’s thoughts Kalpeth turned her head away from the dragons wheeling overhead to look at the other man. Her attention didn’t last too long before something else caught the green’s attention and those large swirling eyes passed Ezieki by. Make him she told G’tet before asking Is it time to eat? I think I feel hungry. The greenrider blinked once at all of what he heard, but gave no indication that Ezieki might have been part of the conversation’s subject.
Turning back to the other man with an easy grin he asked, “How’s your visit to the Weyr treating you then? Expecting to be here long? I imagine the Weyrleader has plenty trying to bend his ear on that topic. Will your father wait? Or return another day?”

Ezieki laughed, "Ah, too obvious if I were a candidate? I think it would be. It is too easy to presume me, or another a candidate at the moment, for the very reason you have explained, is all I was saying," Ezieki caught the gaze of the green - swirling and intrepid - though he turned his attention back tto G'tet rather quickly, there was something far too deep about the dragon's gaze.
"I've not been here too long, two hours perhaps, at most. As for my father? He will undoubtedly find the weyrleader, and make him make time to listen to him. If everything goes well, and if he doesn't? He won't return tomorrow - he's a busy man himself, but at the moment, he's rather caught up on the situation at hand. My father is rather much a man of phases, this particular one will pass after a nights sleep, I believe." Ezieki informed G'tet, Ezieki displayed a highly amused smile, his father's folly did amuse him greatly.
"So far my visit has been pleasant, though you are the first person I've spoken to. You have quite a settlement of Caminar at the moment. Perhaps I am ignorant to this, but why?" Question posed towards G'tet, Ezieki had no idea where the Caminar were concerned, he had infrequently met them back in Telgar, even thenthey were generally subjected to ridicule. And one thing he did know, regarding Caminar, their females were not something a plantado male like himself were allowed to spend time around. Which for him was a shame, he'd love to see how he could get around that language of theirs.

“The Caminar? Ah, yes, we do seem to have collected quite a few haven’t we? Even a couple of candidates in the mix. That’s left many not pleased at all.” And best to not to mention one of them was mine, G’tet thought as he studied Ezieki. At least, he told himself with an inward sigh, this one might go easier. No one else might have understood the words shared between him and Kalpeth, but he knew she’d shown some interest. I wonder if should see about going out on search next time? Did the eggs hatch? Are there new ones to play with?
No, Kal. Not yet. I would have told you if you had missed it. G’tet shook his head and tried to pay attention to what the other man was saying. “Ah, Caminar, right. Well, they gathered here for some thing of theirs. A yearly gather sort of thing. Watch your marks if you check them out. They’ve plenty of fancy baubles to try to push on you.” No sense not getting right to it so the greenrider grinned again. “Fancy sticking around then? You don’t seem like you’d miss your father overly much for the time between now and the hatching. Certainly you’d have plenty to do between now and then anyway.” He hated just coming out and asking. Better to see if they could pick up on what he asked.

Caminar candidates? His mind whirred at the prospect. "I didn't think many Caminar became Candidates? Don't they generaly dislike the platado life?" was that... common? Ezieki had never personally met a Caminar rider, he'd heard there were the odd one here or there, but Caminar rarely gave up their life as a Caminar for anything.. only the really deicated must take up that position...
He laughed, watch his marks? They had many pretty things did they? He might have to go visit them, there would be no way he'd be cheated out of what he kept. He might find something of exceptional beauty there, enough for him atleast.
"I have heard the Caminar make some very beautiful things. Their Craftsmen tend to be the best though." He sounded a little disconcerted at this - a result of the prejudice pushed upon him from his father.
He listened to G'tet, the man was asking him to stay... was that just to see the Caminar Gathering? or was this a back handed and awkward way of asking him to stand as a candidate? The man was vague, and indirect, something Ezieki didn't overly value. "It wouldn't really matter to me if I didn't have a grerat deal to do between now and then." He shrugged nonchalantly, "I can cope with copious amounts of spare time. The time between now and the hatching?" He asked rhetorically. Ah, so the ride was implying that Ezieki would stand. "Ah, yes, if I would be taken I would not mind." He said his mind fastforwarding over the multitude of possibility that beocming acandidate would offer him. People. People of power, of standing, Candidates, candidates who would impress, others who wouldn't but all in all, there would almost certainly be a good result at the end for him. He made a habbit of coming out of things well.
Laughing he returned to the topic of his father, "Nah, there is nothing, if anything I would miss about my father," Though he might miss hi moter, and is sister, there would be little - if anything he would miss of his brother and father.

“Not many do, but every now and again you get one or two standing. It’s rare, sure, but should have been expected with so many of them out and about here while the eggs are hardening.” G’tet shrugged as if he didn’t care one way or the other. Well, truth be told he didn’t care one way or the other although even he might be a bit put out by the thought of the Caminar girl impressing the queen. “All of that aside, they do indeed have some lovely pieces. I picked up one or two for myself. No sense not spending the marks when there’s something other than the usual gather fare to spend them on.”
He might not have as many as others, but G’tet was careful with his marks so had been able to pick up a thing or two. Especially since he’d gotten out of spending too much on jewelry for Genet. His lips twitched a bit when spare time was remarked upon by the holder. “Ah, afraid spare time is at a premium for candidates. Always something that needs doing. And if you were to impress, well, forget spare time for a turn or so. No such thing as an idle weyrlings. At least not one who is awake and sleep is precious little it seemed like.” Best to have that out of the way in case he was an overly lazy sort. That kind were not needed at all. “Offer’s there if you want it. Kalpeth seems to think you should stay.”

Ezieki looked at G'tet, hard work was not his thing at all. G'tet seemed amussed at what he had previously said, this made Ezieki a little more cautious of the male. But this, standing, did sound like fun, and at most it would dearn him a week out of his regular hum drum existence, and it would yeild a feew winteresting stories no matter what the outcome besides, he was sure he could escape the best part of the chores and what note - he was quite adept at it.
"I would be honoured to stand, and I thank you and Kalpeth for honouring me in such a manner." He Gave a brief bow, smiled at the rider, he'd rise to the challenge, but the idea of work was out of the window. He would avoid, and escape it where he could, and as best as he could - but there was no use telling this to this man - he was obviously one of the ones who would devote himself to a task blindly. He was the sort Ezieki would give tasks to, and trust they would get done.
Ahh, the eggs, yes, he had heard that their queen, had given clutch to a stunning batch - it seemed though many seemed unhappy with the weyrleader (at least in the hold) His bonded served Telgar a strong clutch, twenty-five eggs, and a queen. It would be a stunning thing to stand for such a strong clutch. "I heard that the Weyrwoman's dragon did yeild a very strong clutch. It must be a hard task to try and find a great enough number of candidates to exceed the numbers." Ezieki commented.

“Never hard to find lads willing to take their chances on the sand,” G’tet said with a grin as he leaned against Kalpeth while she watched overhead again. “Got to be pretty silly not to want to do that. Most boys at the Weyr’ll do it at least once just to do it.” Who wouldn’t? thought G’tet. A chance at impressing? Who could not want that.
Well, possibly the fellow in front of him who looked more likely to admire his face in a mirror than get his hands dirty. A chuckle escaped his throat at the thought of the fellow butchering meat or mucking out a couch. Some tasks a man can’t get away from no matter how hard he tries. Suddenly the thought of this one impressing was not so bad.
He didn’t bother to explain his chuckle, let the fellow worry about it or not. “Will you need assistance informing your father? Or will your words suffice. A quick trip home to gather a –few- things will probably be allowed, but remember you only have a small amount of space to call your own. Not to mention you could be turning around rather quickly to go home if that’s your liking should you leave the sands alone.” And the weyrlingmaster can deal with the rest of any mess this fellow creates. I should probably warn him anyway. No sense letting a potential troublemaker have any leeway. Well, unless it was G’tet or his sister. They deserved exceptions to all the rules. But, since none of that needed saying he just grinned again.

Ezieki smiled, as genuine as she could, "No, I understand that." He said in reference to boys wanting to take to the sands. His suspicion of the green rider flared again, as the rider laughed. Nothing amusing had been said, and there was no cause to laugh. His suspicion showed for a minute before he re-obtained his composure.
He took a step or two away from the rider, "No, my words will suffice. I will take you on that offer if you don't mind, I would also appreciate being able to say goodbe to my mother, and sister. If that wouldn't be too much trouble now?" he asked quizically, though the question was rhetorical, but it was obvious G'tet was getting round to making his mind up that he didn't like Ezieki. Well, not everyone could appreciate him fully.
G'tet was starting to infuriate him. all of this laughter, smiles and hidden thoughts. "So, shall I leave now? If so, I believe I could be back around morning tomorrow by runner. Or do I have to be introduced to people first? So they know I'm a candidate." Ezieki said, trying to prompt a more busniess like attitude towards this, not that he knew overly well how to do that.

The infuriating G’tet, although he would never consider himself that, simply smiled again. “You’ll want to talk to the weyrlingmaster about your trip. He’s a better idea of what sort of time is left before the hatching I imagine. And letting him know you’re about is a good thing. But, that can wait until after you’ve spoken to your father.” Might as well get used to doing things. And running to find a couple of people is a good start. “It’s possible the weyrlingmaster will have one of the others just take you home. Would be faster, after all. I’d offer, but they like Kalpeth to take it easy after any bad landing.”
And much as I hate that you’re hurt it does provide a wonderful excuse, Kal. Where am I hurt? Oh. My leg. I remember. G’tet patted his green’s shoulder for remembering something and smiled at her. “Should still be a few cots left in the barracks even. I’d check there for the weyrlingmaster first.” Quite possibly G’tet thought he should be a little nicer, but considering first Jansen and now this he was allowed to be annoyed with new candidates in general. “Congratulations and the best of luck to you. I’m afraid I’d better get. Post drill meeting with the wing.” And a visit to Genet to warn her about this fellow. If for no other reason than if he makes her as my sister he might cause her trouble just for being related to me.
Your sister is here?

"Thank you once more," He gave a brief bow, just being generally nice. "I understand, and I hope Kalpeth is better soon, G'tet." He may dislike the rider, but the dragon was generally okay, just chose to bond herself to an oaf. Perhaps that was a little harsh? No. Not really. "Besides, I would not put you out of your busy duties for my sakes, a runner is quite adequate." He told G'tet, in a backwards way saying he didn't overly want to spend more time around the rider than he had to. He was certain in the future - if he impressed - they would be thrust into various situations where they would have to work together or some such tripe. Ezieki thought things over, he had to find his father, then the weyrlingmaster. Should be standard enough, except for one thing...
"I don't mean to state the obvious, but, would you mind giving me a few details, before you leave, on who the weyrlingmaster is? I'm not firmiliar with the weyr, as you might recall me telling you." He sounded a little pompous now, but he didn't overly care, he would be out of G'tet's company as soon as possible.

“Oh, Kalpeth always recovers. It’s just a hassle. But not her fault.” G’tet assured his dragon with his words to the now candidate. She could get very upset over the injury, more than other dragons he’d figured out, since she couldn’t seem to remember it even day to day. A grin broke out at the comparison of riding a dragon and a runner. “Runner’s only adequate because you’re not used to other. Get used to a dragon and a runner’s like eating mud.”
Which makes G’tet’s life better since he doesn’t have to rely on a runner. When asked about the weyrlingmaster G’tet laughed. “Told you where to find him. That’s not good enough? Should be able to tell by his knot.” He paused a moment to shake his head. “Well, I suppose one can’t expect a holder to be that aware.” And G’tet had been something more than a holder for four turns and was therefore superior. “I’dalyn. Although a location and a knot would be of more use than a name attached to someone you don’t know. Well, best of luck to you, Ezieki. I’ll be seeing you about.” And that was the end of that since G’tet climbed onto the extended foreleg Kalpeth offered and gave a quick, “Watch yourself,” before the green made a less than graceful leap up into the air. If Ezieki wasn’t smart enough to get out of the way he deserved to be covered in dust.
