"You do not strike me as presumptuous, Torad," Aleda replied with a light laugh as she moved towards the log, settled down onto it in a swirl of flame-hued skirts. She looked over at him sidelong, humor pulling at her mouth again as she set down her drink carefully in the angle of the log and the ground, unwrapped her pastry and took a careful bite meant to open the crust, grant a little taste, but mostly let the heat out in a rush of steam.
"So. Am I merely tolerable or extreme?" she asked him playfully then nodded about the food. "Good. I'm glad you're enjoying it. And the Gather too, so far?"

"I had hoped I hadn't made such an impression", Torad smiled and took yet another bite, swallowing it down with the drink shortly after. He glanced over at her as she took a bite, perhaps longer than he should have before she spoke again. "Oh I'd say you're quite tolerable. Treating me to your people's food and not to mention you make excellent company. And on top of that it's allowing me the chance at an inside glance on your people's lifestyle", Torad explained. He then looked around, watching moments of different interactions and situations going on at this Gather. He then returned his gaze to her. "Oh yes, I've been enjoying it. It's certainly bringing some excitement to the weyr and I see some of the dragonriders have decided to inspect it themselves and partake in the fun. Though perhaps they're not as lucky as me, being treated by a lady", Torad answered her delightfully and with a smile.

"Quite tolerable," Aleda echoed and then burst out laughing again. "That is not the /best/ compliment I have ever gotten but it'll do," she told him teasingly and blew across the top of the pastry, then took another bite. "Would you say then, that the Weyr usually lacks excitement, Torad?" The sabedoria's gaze slipped his way, blending simple curiosity with lingering good humor.
Beyond them around the fire, other conversations continued, laughter not uncommon, though there were also some dark looks being sent towards riders being perhaps a little too familiar with some of the Caminar girls.

Torad, taking the last bite of his sandwich, looked up as he swallowed. Immediately following, he took a few sips of his drink and placed it back in it's original place on the table. "Oh. Sorry. Perhaps that sounded too much an observation. I'll try to put more work into my compliments next time", Torad said genuinely. He paused for a moment to really think on the question, looking up and placing a finger on his chin. "Hm", Torad said, a hint of pondering and interest in the question. He finally turned his gaze back on Aleda and allowed his hands to rest on the table, leaning forward slightly. "I would say...it doesn't lack in excitement inasmuch as it's exciting in different ways. I don't recall a whole other culture coming here and celebrating in such a fashion. For me it's a new experience, and I'm typically one for new experiences. Some would call me too curious for my own good", Torad's answer was one of thought and observation, not only of the moment he was presented in but a bit of self-observation as well.

"No need to apologize," Aleda murmured before filling her mouth with more food and listening to his observations. Off by the fire, one of those Caminar girls yanked her wrist free from the loose grip of the brownrider who'd taken hold of it and launched a stream of heated invective his way before stomping off. The sabedoria's gaze took in this event while still paying attention to the content of Torad's speech. Her eyes narrowed though as she marked a Caminar man, probably that girl's brother approaching the rider, even as he rejoined his own companions, head shaking and thumb jerking back in the direction the girl had gone.
"Too curious for your own good? Do you point your nose into things that you shouldn't then?" Aleda asked him and nodded towards the potential drama unfolding. "What do you make of that then? Too much excitement for a celebration perhaps?" She reached down for her drink and took a long sip. "Cultures coming together sometimes clash."

"I suppose that too is a matter of opinion", Torad looked over to the ongoing event. The brownrider, the woman, the man, all of this unfolding before him "Perhaps. It's a volitile situation, that's for sure. It could cause many different outcomes. And as much as I regret to say, it's a good possibility there could be an all out brawl. In which case it would be prudent for us to leave as quickly and quietly as possible" Torad spoke plainly as he kept his eyes peeled on the situation. There was a pause before he spoke again, as if to add on something he forgot or something he should say. "However, I'm hoping it simply dissolves and nothing comes about", Torad had some tone this time, one of hope and worry at the same time. He decided at this moment to take his eyes off the event and back to Aleda. "That can be the case, yes. A regret when that happens. You miss the chance to meet new people, understand more about the world we live on, and to broaden one's horizens as you so put it earlier. But we're all unique and hold our own opinions and views", this was Torad's response to her last statement before casting his gaze once again to the situation and taking a sip of what remained of his drink, setting it back on the table with little remaining in it.

Aleda took the time to finish her pastry and the last of her drink, eyes still skipping towards what was now a 'discussion' in progress. "An all out brawl would not be good right now." The voices over there were starting to rise. "We need to be able to stay for a while."
The brownrider's hands flew upward in a gesture of surrender and he and his friends stalked off muttering. "It would seem that dissolving is the way of things tonight, thankfully. Hmm." Aleda watched a little longer as the Caminar man returned to his own group and they muttered darkly amongst themselves shooting looks after the departed riders.
"For all your company has been very interesting Torad, and it has been a good meeting, I think that perhaps tonight is not a good night for mixing company too much." She drank down the last of the pressed fruit juice in her cup and curled it up with the wrapping from her pastry. "I hope to speak with you again sometime. But for now I bid you good night."
So saying, Aleda slipped to her feet and away through the crowd.

Torad watched what unfolded with keen interest. His eyes darting back and forth between the two parties, Torad saw the rider throw up his hands and the matter seemed to be settled. Torad was thankful, such a clash wouldn't have went well for either side and would likely have lasting affects. Torad understood the tension between those of the weyr and the Caminar existed, but perhaps a bit ignorant of the degree. He simply sighed in relief before returning his attention to Aleda. He listened to what she had to say, finishing the last bit of his drink. "Yes, perhaps. But I thank you for the insight you've allowed me. I've enjoyed your company as well", Torad said as he raised his glass, now finished with it, then placing it on the table. "Goodnight, Aleda. I hope our paths cross again", Torad said with a smile as he stood up as she departed. When he could no longer see her, he too left.
