He really, really didn't watch for this part. The dragon was descending all too fast, for his liking, the ground appearing larger and larger every second. He fought hard to keep his eyes open and is mind functioning relatively full of logic.
The brown backwinged, bringing them to a fairly soft landing. He let out his breath - that he hadn't realised he had been holding. I'dalyn's hand meeting his shoulder, he felt weak, and he kind of showed it in the way he moved under the motion of I'dalyn's hand. "Yeah... Yeah okay." He's lost his poetic tongue, words reducing to a somewhat crude immitation of their former self. But he came round gradually, he didn't feel as totally exhausted as he had, he felt the control of his muscles seep back to him. He cleared his throat, "It was okay." his words a little more certain this time. He could feel the eyes of the passing crowd falling on him, and the rider - of course - but he felt it most, hushed whispers
Him? Isn't that Derisen's boy? What now? Why is he with that rider? Has he got into trouble with the weyr? all hushed questions from one to another, a feewe adoring looks shot his way, and he felt his confidence ripple back into place.
He watched I'dalyn slide frorm the dragon, haphazardly, he tried to replicate it, barely landing on his feet, but he was srather proud to have done it, despite the dragon altering himsself for Ezieki's ease. "Thanks, I won't be long..." He said as he stretched, and began to walk towards his home.
~~
He returned about an hour from when they had arrived, still walking at a leasurely pace "Sorry, my mother wanted to make sure I had absolutely everything she deemed I needed, because I am incapable of packing apparently." He smiled, he'd always been his mothers favourite, he did not mention of how his sister was virtually crying at his departure. Telling their mother that she didn't want Ez to leave, that infact he wasn't allowed to leave or become a rider, that he wouldn't impress and he must return back home to her. He smiled at the thought, he'd promised he 'd come see her after the hatching, whether it was to return home for good, or just to keep in contact.
He had a rather large canvas back slung over his shoulder, and a pair of boots in the other hand. Well it wasn't like he was going to leave a lot behind now was it? This would see him through until about four days after the hatching, or when the hatching was anticipated to be at very least.

I’dalyn turned at the sound of Ezieki’s voice, a small smile greeting the candidate as he carefully masked his irritation. An hour? He hadn’t thought this errand would have taken quite that long. Ah, no matter. He had found ways to entertain himself. What had her name been again? He searched his mind for a moment, shrugging inwardly as he came up blank.
Daisulyth snorted, eyes rolling as he stretched his forearms and archingly spread his toes. Apparently, the dragon said lazily, his maw wide with a yawn as he stirred from his brief nap, She wasn't very lovely. I’dalyn chose to ignore this quip, struggling to listen to Ezieki’s explanation and keep a straight face.
“Well,” the brownrider replied placidly, “It’s good to have you back. I was afraid that your first dragon ride had scared you away completely.” With a smirk that couldn’t quite be considered rude he took Ezieki’s bag and lashed it to Daisulyth’s straps, somehow rigging the boots along side it. “Up now lad,” he said with a gesture towards the brown’s back. “We’ve got to go home before I get scolded.” He climbed into position and waited for Ezieki, curious to see if he would be able to manage the straps on his own this time.

Ezieki felt rather embarrassed by this. He refused to make a scene of it though, with a curt nod, he climbed aboard the brown, and tried to clip himself back in, the hour having frazzled his mind a little, and well, perhaps it was a little of the lack of desire to be on a dragon's back quite so soon.
"No, I wouldn't run. Not without telling you first." He smirked, looking at the brown of the dragons hide again, concentrating on the subtle influences of colour there. "And... sorry, I didn't mean to cause trouble for you." He cursed inwardly; he knew his mother and his sister would make quite a deal of it.
He looked up at the sky, “Tell me, I’dalyn, sir,” He added quickly, so he did not seem too brash, “Is it as bad the second time round?” He asked, mentally preparing himself and physically bracing himself for all of what was to come. Perhaps he was worse now, he knew what he was to expect. The cold, the senseless existence, the void. He repressed a shudder, so what if he had a mild fear of the between, it was fairly regular wasn’t it? After all, it was where you went upon death. That set his mind whirring over a whole new load of topics, he paled again, though not through choice.

Anyone would have been able to sense the candidate’s anxiety, and Daisulyth turned to stare at the nervous man on his back. He rumbled, slightly bemused, then turned his attentions skyward. The brown could never understand why humans were so opposed to the sky. He barely listened as I’dalyn uttered basic words of assurance, waving away apologies for how long it had taken. With a yawn the brown stretched his wings outward, legs unfolding to ready himself for take-off.
As I’dalyn was checking the lad’s straps, he smiled slightly at the addition of ‘sir.’ It felt strange to have that title slapped on the end of his name. “Don’t worry Ezieki,” the weyrlingmaster said with the faintest hint of amusement. “It only gets better.” At this Daisulyth leapt into the air, the great downward stroke of his wings startling the bystanders who were still curiously watching. “Besides,” He added, watching the boy’s hair whip around his head, “If you walk away from the hatching with a dragon, you’ll have to get used to it.” He turned away from the candidate, mentally adding ‘and get a haircut.’
Daisulyth wasted no time gaining altitude, the hold growing smaller and smaller beneath them as the rose upwards through the air. “Another breath, Ezieki,” I’dalyn warned, following his own advice as they slipped into nothingness.
The air in the bowl was doggedly hot, and it hit I’dalyn in the face like a sheet. He squinted against the oppressive heat, again turning to check on their passenger. “You alright? Any better this time?” No one ever really got used to between, but it was always a little less terrifying when you knew what to expect. Daisulyth circled effortlessly, furling his wings and easing into a landing near the weyrling barracks.

The browns’ intense gaze, just made Ezieki shrink into himself, his confidence dwindling. I’dalyn spoke, it only gets better Ezieki looked rather doubtful at this, but he swallowed his thoughts, get used to it? What if he didn’t want to get used to going between! I’dalyn had a point though, if he did impress, he would have to get used to the sensation of flight. And preferably of between.
The brown jumped to the air, taking off, and well. Perhaps I’dalyn was not mistaken. He did not find it as disconcerting as the hold began to shrink away from them, I’dalyn’s words rung true again to take another breath, Ezieki did.
Between followed shortly, the boy kept his mind on completely different thought, anything but of the between, he screwed his eyes shut, and refused to think about the nothingness that surrounded him, the complete lack of even self presence that could be felt about him. His body still kept its breath, again perhaps that subliminal fear of losing it to the nothingness.
But breath came sharp as they met the humid air of the Weyr, it hit him like a wall, making his shudder at the polar extremes to his senses, which had momentarily blocked at the over-haul of information trying to be sent to his brain. The bowl came towards them Daisulyth coming to land. Ezieki still felt shaken but I’dalyn was right, Between could be dealt with, but it was still something that had played on his mind, and undoubtedly would continue to.
“Perhaps a bit.” That much was obvious considering how, the now candidate, Ezieki was nowhere near as blanched ass he had been to their prior excursion. Ezieki gave a tentative smile, He felt like he was being watched so much, quite for his foolishness above everything.

Daisulyth’s legs crumpled gracefully beneath him upon landing. Once comfortable, the brown thoughtfully held one wing aloft so that his rider could slide down from his back without the folded appendage getting in the way. I’dalyn grinned broadly at Ezieki from his position on the ground, raising one hand to shield his eyes against the sun. “A bit is better than nothing,” he said with a squint, the view of the lad a-dragonback sending his thoughts in a flurry. It would be so strange to see his own weyrlings with grown dragons one day.
His dragon nudged his consciousness pointedly, folding his wing after the candidate had dismounted. Your ‘weyrlings’ have yet to be hatched, he reminded silently. I’dalyn laughed quietly as he untied Ezieki’s bag from Daisulyth’s straps, handing the possessions to their owner as he untangled them from the wherhide. There are two halves to every pair, love, he quipped affectionately. If the brown could have rolled his eyes, he would have.
Cracking his knuckles and glancing off in the direction of the barracks, I’dalyn gave Ezieki one more reassuring smile. “Just put that riding belt back on the rack in there, and make yourself at home. I’ll undoubtedly be seeing you later.” With one hand on his Daisulyth’s expansive side, he tried to add a note of authority to his voice. “Oh, and check the chore sheet on the wall.” With a brief chuckle he climbed up to his dragon's back, the brown launching himself into the air with no hesitation. He had been promised an oiling, and he intended to receive it.

Ezieki smiled at Idalyn, he was right, some improvement was better than none now wasn't it? He slid from the back of the brown, meeting the floor a little off kilter, but he was fine recovered okay, straightening he nodded to I'dalyn and turned towards the barracks, to put the belt away. "I guessed they made you weyrlingmaster for a reason, I'm glad to admit I can see it." He retorted with a cheeky grin, feeling generally quite lark-full over the events of the day.
"Thank you." He called after I'dalyn as the pair rose towards the sky. The brown did look magnificent as he rose to t he air, completely lacking in any awkward or unsightly motions, fluid as though born to the air. He wondered for a moment if he would ever impress, and whether his bonded would be as grand and effortless. Also, what would he impress? if of course he were going to impress. I'dalyn had mentioned a chore sheet as she left, the prospect was not something Ezieki took warmly. Chores! Not likely if I can help it at all. He stalked into the barracks, taking himself away from the rest of the world for ra while, he needed to iron the creases from his mind, and figure out just quite as to what was going on about him right at this moment in time.
((Crappy - but it will do i guess!!! That would also conclude this thread i believe =3 Thanks again Anhydrous, I'dalyn and Daisulyth!))
