"I've never been ashamed of my own people before," Silvio said slowly, throat tight. "I love our way. Love the road. Love all of it. I can't think of any other way to be. But they would never accept you. My own family would never look at me again. I would be dead to them and they would spit on us both. Well. Except maybe for Aleda, but she -- she's different." And then it hit him that maybe he had a lot more in common than he'd ever thought with his sister.
The pallor slowly faded and he managed a laugh as she mentioned being adult. "Well. We both have to be. Even if it's hard, I guess." Both arms slid around her again and he moved to draw her close against him. "I don't want that to happen to us either." He swallowed down the newest lump in his throat. "But you make my heart sing."

“Families are crazy,” Genet says with a small laugh. “But they love us and they can’t help the way they are.” Now she shook her head and made a face that included crossing her eyes and sticking out her tongue. “Ok, that’s not true, but if things are working why change them? Parents think their children should be happy doing what they did.” Her own parents had never understood her desires to be and do more than what they had in their small hold.
Don’t do it her brain told her as she melted into the words that he said. Her brain once more got overridden as being a bore however and so she said, “Can you sleep out at night some night? I thought I’d like to sleep out at night. I could use the ledge at G’tet’s weyr but I worry about rolling off in my sleep!” Which was why she asked him to sleep out with her some night. Yep. Fear of a falling death.
Once it was offered she grew a little shy because what if he didn’t want to? Maybe their fooling around did not mean what she thought? Why couldn’t G’tet be here to talk to about this? He knew men better than her. “I could bring food and we could make a fire and camp out,” she thought to add. An innocent camp out. Because what could she say? If she were a weaker woman she would have swooned. You make my heart sing indeed. What woman could resist that? “I just want to be with you. However we can do it.” That will hurt the least.

"Mine isn't so bad, it's just that bloodlines are very important. Very important," Silvio murmured quietly in return then laughed again at her tongue being stuck out so. One of his hands lifted to brush fingers along her cheek gently and he smiled at her warmly. And then she was asking him that question. Making that offer? And his breath caught in his throat.
"Yes." He said it quickly, without thinking really. Then laughed. "I sleep out almost every night of my life. Unless it's raining or snowing. Then it's better to be in a wagon," he added seriously, though his eyes were twinkling again. Those last words of hers sent any second thoughts or caution right out of Silvio's head. "So do I," he said fervently. This time when he kissed her, he held not a thing back. Nothing at all.

Bloodlines. Genet understood that a little, but it wasn’t her people’s way. The Blood worried about such things. Her people just made sure they weren’t marrying a cousin and were done with it for the most part. So a flippant answer popped into her brain, but she was wise enough to dismiss it before saying. Besides, he wasn’t the sort of man to marry a woman, have a few kids, and sever the marriage. And she wasn’t the type of woman to suggest it. Just to think it. For a moment only anyway because he was agreeing to her offer and she felt excited and scared all at once.
“A sleep out then,” she said pleased with the idea once she was used to it. She was flustered and that made her hot and then cold and before she could feel that cold they were kissing again and she thought she might burn up in it. With it decided she felt less guilty about this kiss and had nothing to hold back either. Soon she thought to herself somewhere in that kiss. Then it’s goodbye Genet holdergirl and hello new Genet. Soon, but not yet so before she could lose her head entirely she moved her lips to his cheek and then away so she might speak. “We never have to be separated for long. G’tet can bring me anywhere you can give a clear picture of for Kalpeth to use.” For entirely platonic visits should he have a wife. That hardly needs saying.

The innocent and sometimes annoying pile of kids in a tent or on top of a wagon or in a wagon were not at all what leapt to mind when Silvio processed Genet's agreement to his acceptance of her own suggestion. Flashes of imagined passion danced through his brain, took it over and if she hadn't stepped away, it might have been hello-new-Genet-right-there-on-that-rock. Breathless and a little dizzy, his mouth followed hers, deprived, until sense toddled up and knocked on the door to be let back in.
He stared at her almost stupidly for a moment. It had never occurred to him that she might do that. That her brother would /agree/ to that. The wheels in the back of his mind began to turn. Could he have his cake and eat it too? Oh. So. Tempting.
Anywhere he could give a clear picture to. Anywhere. He resolved right then and there to get really, really good at visualizing places. For when G'tet came back. For when the caravan left. "You have to introduce me to your brother very soon," is what he said, very seriously. And then he kissed her again, because he wanted to and because he could, though he kept his hands off of her dress-lacings.
