Lightly, Rivaly repeated, "They could make you crazy." She wore a brief, subdued smile, raised her eyebrows, widened her eyes with an entertained expression, and lowered her head in a nod that she sympathized with Emeni even while she doubted the probability that they would make her in particular crazy.
But it would be funny, wouldn't it?
There was little more conversation from the Healer tonight, little more open interaction. She had come to watch, and watch she did.
((Bowing Rivaly out of this thread-- not for lack of entertainment, but for lack of time! I don't think I can keep up right now, and I don't want it to drag on my account!))

((Thank you for coming! It was a pleasure to have you, however brief!))
"Yup," Emeni answered, bobbing her head. Oh, and then awkward silence started. Got to love awkward silence, right? She scuffed her feet, looked around, and wished she had that beer to keep her occupied. Well, when G'tet got back, she could blame him for killing the conversation - after all, he'd told them to talk about how great he was, and this persistent silence could only mean neither she nor Rivaly had much to say on the subject. Emeni smirked at the thought.

Obviously the steward’s assistant and the healer were blind to G’tet’s many charms. He made his way back to where he’d left them and grins at the remaining woman. “Beer for you. If you get in trouble for it I will swear you twisted my arm until I complied to your request to fetch it for you.” G’tet looks around for Rivaly, but since she seems to have moved on he focuses on Emeni once more. “So,” the greenrider says after taking a drink from his beer. “Tell me something interesting that has gone on while I’ve been away?”
(OOC: Baibai, Rivaly. Thanks for the play however brief!)

Althesia’s apologetic smile slipped away as the weyrleader took his leave, her lips settling into an uncharacteristically stern line. “I’m beginning to grow less fond of society,” she muttered under her breath, eyes flicking up to meet her bronzer’s curious stare. She scowled in an equally silent response, simultaneously tightening her grip on his hand as they picked their way past the gaggle fawning over the pregnant woman. They would talk to S’lyn. Then they would leave. Or else.
The Harper trusted that this sentiment was being expressed clearly enough, loosening her fingers so that they wouldn’t leave J’rad’s hand with angry white marks that might give away her agitation. Inside Althesia’s chest a furious storm was brewing, her energy focused on keeping the tempest out of her expression. While her eyes might have darkened with the effort, it was doubtful that anyone but her bronzer would be able to spy the falseness of her smile.

Emeni grinned as she took the beer from G'tet, miming a vicious twist. "I'll tell my Pop you're innocent, don't worry. You didn't know how sneaky I am." Happy to have a beer in hand again, she signaled her gratitude to G'tet by lifting the beer at him in mock-salute before taking a long, satisfying drink.
She emergeds from it with a pop of her lips, and a glance around to make sure her parents didn't notice the display. Masha was still busy cooing over the pregnant woman, and S'lyn was lined up with a group of older riders, trading stories about old times over a beer of his own. Safe! Emeni turned her smile back on the greenrider. "Interesting stuff, huh? You mean like a couple of girls Impressing greens, or maybe three weirdos going out and finding a chip of a star?" She winked. "I mean, I'm happy to share stories, but is there really anything Genet wouldn't have told ya already? Or do you just want to check her details, make sure she wasn't - well, exaggerating?" Emeni chuckled softly.

“Oh, I would never accuse Genet of exaggerating,” G’tet says with a wink to Emeni. “I just like to hear everyone else’s opinion on events too. Besides despite what she thinks she does not know it all.” He takes a drink of his own beer and when it’s hanging at his side once more laughs. “Just don’t ever tell her I said that. She likes to think I believe her all knowing. Since we were little kids.” Across the weyr someone calls his name so he looks over and lifts his beer in a wave.
What he doesn’t do is make a move to extract himself from the conversation he is in. “You can’t tell me you don’t hear any good gossip, Emeni,” he teases with a grin. “I’d expect working in stores there’s all sorts of things you could tell me.” He pauses and then snaps his fingers. “That reminds me. I don’t suppose you’ve got a decent sized lockbox in there anywhere? Someone, and I’d never say Genet’s name here, has been going through my things. Ransacked my wine collection while I was away.”

At the mention of Genet's going through her brother's things, Emeni rolled her eyes up and smiled a conspicuously innocent smile. "Well, I sure don't know anything about that," she told him, "but I could probably find you a good lockbox. Might want to bring a friend to help you get it out, though." She waved her hand at him, showcasing the thumb that's been wrapped in cloth. "I'm not allowed to do heavy lifting for a while. Hurt myself but good."
Waving the bandage around drew her attention to it, and fussily she tightened the cloth. It was ever becoming unwound, the obnoxious thing. "Good gossip, though, lemme think. Well, if you like gambling, I hear a lot of the guys talking about how they like that new place that's just opened. The Golden Egg? I've never been, though, so I couldn't say how it is. I don't like gambling." She shrugged.

"No heavy lifting, gotcha," G'tet says with a grin to Emeni. "I am sure I can coax someone into giving me a hand." He had to, of course, use the word coax. It sounds so much more exciting than ask. Well, for a certain kind of excitement anyway. "I appreciate it. I don't have much, but what I have, well. She went through quite a bit of my wine anyway. The brat."
"Gambling isn't a bad way to waste time," G'tet says still unused to the idea of casinos. To the greenrider gambling is what wingmates do on a slow night. "But I bet there's all sorts of characters to watch. I might have to go check it out sometime and see what's happening. If you want to go just let me know. A pretty lady on my arm is never a bad thing." He winks at Emeni and takes another drink.

Emeni chuckled. "Nuh-uh," she said, "no thanks. I mean it when I say I don't like gambling." She winked at him, pausing to take a sip of her beer. When she was done, she gestured vaguely in the direction she'd last seen her Pop. "I dunno if you've ever played a game against my Pop, but my luck makes him look like a regular card sharp. And I'm not much for being arm candy, either, but I'll tell my Ma you offered to take me to a gambler's den. She's always telling me I need to find some nice man to take me out." She rolled her eyes and snorted at the thought.

Both hands rise to clutch at his heart, while making sure no beer spills, as G’tet lets out a heavy sigh. “Crushed under the weight of disappointment, Emeni. You’ve shot me straight through the heart with your refusal. Whatever shall I do? However shall I go on?” He blinks and looks at his beer. “Ah, survival!” he announces before taking a long drink.
The greenrider lets out another sigh at her snort and drops his head. “Ow. Wounded again. I am certainly a nice young man. And your mother certainly would approve of me! After all I wouldn’t just be trying to take advantage of you.” G’tet waggles his brows and winks at Emeni. “As far as she knows.” Another drink and he laughs loudly. “Never fear. Your virtue is safe with me, fair Emeni. I shall not try to drag you anywhere.”

Emeni rolled her eyes again, giving the greenrider a playful punch in the shoulder for his overacting. "Oh, come on. I only meant that a casino's not what my Ma has in mind when she lectures me about getting out. And don't say that's the perfect reason to go, either" she added quickly, shooting G'tet a grin before returning to her beer. "I'm a bad daughter, but not that bad. I'll hold you to it when you say you won't be dragging me anywhere."
