The word Genet muttered to Anayeli’s words started with a b. Not being a proper lady she felt no reason to entirely mask what she said. Instead she just took another cookie and took a large bite out of it when she had done so. If she was going to do this she would just ignore the other weyrling. Who wanted to spend time with her anyway? She was probably still jealous Genet had found a star while she’d sat on her butt!
“Like what people say?” Genet asked to clarify and then shrugged. “Well, that they’re dumb.” This she said with a look to Anayeli. Refocusing on Eideen she smiled brightly. “And are, you know-“ Her hand waved around as she searched for the proper, polite word. “You know. They sleep around a lot.” There you go!
Baristath was currently in the feeding pens watching one of the blues catch his meal. The little guy was still having trouble and the brown wanted to make sure no one got hurt. When Daikalveth spoke to him he listened and passed on the question without acknowledging it. Perhaps because he knew the answer would be quick in coming. With words only, please, he says. Yours mustn’t lay a hand on her. If she is unruly send her back to H’gar.

Anayeli, the snotty one, looked blandly between her brethren while they talked. It was only after Genet's remarks that she added mildly, "I don't know what people say about greenriders." It really came across more like she didn't care, but she refrained from using that exact phrase. "So there really aren't any myths to dispel."
She shrugged her perfect shoulders in trite ambivalence, and-- though she didn't actually have the emery board in hand-- she examined her fingernails with more interest than she spared for those at the table. Likely, she was just being difficult for difficult's sake, no overt malice toward Eideen, only a little lasting irritation with Genet. She was just a very unhappy young woman this last little while.

"Well luckily, that ain't the case." Eideen had said to Genet first, fingers rapped gently on her mug in a sort of distracted gesture. She was twitchy, and seemed to need to be moving no matter what. "Some of the smartest folk I know ride green. Any rider can say they want to aspire to great things. We three, we'll never be wingleaders, but we can be the best wingriders. We learn where we're needed, and we interpret the needs of our wings. It's thankless, sometimes, b'such is our sacrifice, eh?" A sip was stolen from the mug before she gave a laugh at Genet's next suggestion. "Well, that's less a lie. But s'not something we actively choose. When our green beauties go up, we've got no say in the matter. S'how we conduct ourselves when they ain' hijackin' our minds and bodies that will either prove or disprove that one." Having so said, the woman briefly lost focus on the two of them, her lips drawn in a thin, disappointed line.
Thusly, the pout in Daikalveth's reply to Baristath was evident. Cheeky. Pity. If she does have to go back, Mine suggests mucking things out. Mine says the snotty one needs to be humbled. But she will keep her for now, unless.
Anayeli then called the woman's attention back and Eideen licked her lips before speaking. "Part of what Genet said is some of it. We're dumb, loose. Wanton with our affections and too flighty to be of any use 'cept for flyin'. Some of its true, and some are fine with bein' it. Not all of us are. Hot-tempered, well. I'm guilty of that. Stuck-up is usually not among our descriptors."
Another look was cast to Genet and then to Anayeli. "Any more questions, either of ya?"

If anyone had asked Genet, and no one ever did more’s the pity, she would have said Anayeli deserved to be unhappy considering how mean she could be. Since no one asked however she was forced to keep that to herself. Instead she just rolled her eyes and stuffed a cookie into her mouth. Best to not say anything unkind.
Baristath, who was not sure letting Daikalveth and her rider near his weyrlings was a good idea, did not bother with H’gar this time. They are both a handful. We wish you luck in these conversations. We just ask you do your best. Your rider does not have to keep either if they get out of line. Truth be told, for all Anayeli’s ways it was Genet who was expected to cause more trouble. At least active trouble.
“I don’t have any more questions,” Genet said as she swallowed the last of her cookie. “H’gar said you’d be talking to us while we were weyrlings? I think that’s nice! Thank you for doing it! I appreciate it and Anquilith enjoys having someone new to play with!” So earnest and chipper even if she sounded like a kiss ass she wasn’t trying to do that.

More? Anayeli's eyebrow quirked around that particular word, the corners of her mouth pulled up in a cold-and-superior looking smile. Really, she probably did deserve to be humbled, but the likelihood it would happen any time soon-- no matter how many latrines she cleaned, laps she ran, or sheets she washed-- was slim to none. Somewhere between the confusion of Impressing-after-the-fact and general teenage woes, she had turned a generally haughty disposition into one colored with a dislike for anyone and everyone she thought ought to be able to answer her questions and couldn't.
In short: She hated everyone.
Except Ptolemeth, presumably.
"I haven't got any questions." Again, the words she didn't say were pretty clear: Are we done?

Genet's gratitude is given a smirk and a wave of a hand. "No need t'thank me. H'gar may have asked, but I'm happy to do it. It'll be nice not to be the only odd-man out. Or rather, odd woman out." Anayeli was given a look that really defied all sense of readability. There was a smile, and a narrowing of eyes, and then a flick of brows before Eideen looked back to Genet.
Daikalveth sent ahead a single mental sigh to the Weyrling Master's brown before going back to her game with Anquilith.
"Come see me whenever you want and whenever H'gar says it's arright, eh?" She said to Genet, and then once again eyed Anayeli. "You have a resource. It's up to you whether or not you want to utilize it. Unless H'gar says otherwise, you'll not be required to meet with me. You are, of course, welcome to, provided you leave your high and mighty behind and come willing to learn something." She waved her hand at the pair then, snagging a scroll with the other. "Dismissed, unless you want to stay."

“Yea, that would require thinking beyond if your shoes matched your shirt,” Genet said in reply to Anayeli’s remark about having no questions. It was not a nice thing to say, but Genet sometimes had trouble being nice. Especially around girls who were more interested in being pretty than she was. Or who were just prettier than her. Stupid prettier than her girls!
“I don’t have any other questions right now! But I wasn’t prepared for questions.” Which was a warning, sort of, that next time she wouldn’t shut up with the questions. Anquilith in the bowl was happy to have Daikalveth focused back on the game as she was not having as much fun when the older green seemed distracted. For all that she still stood up to go because, well, sitting still. How fun was that? “Thanks! I’ll see you soon then!” There were a hundred things to do after all. “Oh! Have you seen my star? I’ll make sure it’s my day and bring it next time!” Because Genet loved to show off her star.

In a haha-very-funny, thick and syrupy voice, Anayeli answered Genet's not-a-nice-thing with a roll of her eyes; "You're not clever enough to get under my skin, Genet, so why don't you just spare us both the embarrassment." She pushed up in the middle of that remark with one of those expressions that come exclusively to girls between the ages of twelve and nineteen: belittling, haughty, disinterested, all the little cruelties that pretty girls exact on those who haven't been quite so blessed. At least she proved the only-skin-deep adage to be painfully true.
Pragmatically, forcing politeness into her voice where it hardly seemed comfortable, she told Eideen, "I don't doubt you have the very best intentions, ma'am, but my high-and-might behind? Is the only one I've got. Thanks so much for your time." The gushing so much went against the aforementioned politeness she was trying so hard to maintain, but she layered a perfectly-perfect smile over the top of it like maybe she could distract Eideen with her pearly whites.
Then she just walked off, rolling her eyes again.

"Stow the bickering, it's becoming in neither of you. Genet, don't sully yourself by dropping to her level." The elder rider intoned, eyes already trained on the scroll. Anayeli's smile never actually gets seen, but she hears just fine. "And you, y'ain't pretty enough to be that snotty. That ass'll prolly belong to more than a few men you'll think lower than you in due time, so enjoy your childish superiority while it lasts. You Impressed green, not gold. Know what that means? Not even she has to put up with your crap," A lift of the woman's chin indicated Genet, "So don' waste effort. Neither of ya. Now git." Another wave, but Eid did spare a glance up at Genet and nodded. "Bring it along next time, I'll like to see it, yah."
Beyond that, the girls received no more from the Frost rider as her head dipped lower and eyes narrowed in heavy study.
However, Anquilith was to play host to a private message spoken through the minty green that continued to play. Mine says that yours should play Ptolemeth's at her own game. She wishes that this be passed along.

It was all Genet could do not to feel superior now that someone else didn’t like Anayeli’s behavior. But she still had to share living space with the other weyrling so she just ducked her head like she was responding to Eideen. When she looked up again it was over her shoulder to beam at Eideen. “I will! It’s so awesome!” It was a rock. But it was a space rock! That had to mean something! A dead star or whatever it was.
Out in the bowl Anquilith nearly missed the ball in her attention to the words being given to pass along. I will tell her the dark green tells the mint green and then does so. Her answer comes back tinged with amusement. Genet says she is not worth playing a game like that. That she will beat her playing our own game. It is better.
