We're not too big on rules here. Here's what we've got. Don't make us make more!
1) Post often. You can't plot if you don't RP! If a character is in an active thread and hasn't been posted to that thread in one week, we'll call on that character in Activity Check. We'll also call on players if they've posted for no characters at all for two weeks (unless they're on posted LOA/vacation). If an individual character of an otherwise active player isn't posted at all for four weeks, the player will be contacted about archiving or NPCing the character. If your inactivity is holding up a scene or plot, we may step in to advance it around you.
2) Be adults, even if society says you're not an adult yet! Be polite to one another. If things get difficult, try to sound professional. Be understanding. Say thank you.
3) Keep the content reasonable. Sex is not to be roleplayed in a graphic fashion. Violence should be appropriate to the scene, not gratuitous. Characters who are ICly foulmouthed are welcome (and the board will automatically censor anything we deem 'too extreme' so don't fret about it); OOC cursing is absolutely not welcome.
4) Keep it canon. Or mostly canon, anyway: no one's going to jump down your neck for the occasional transgression, but try to stick to the theme as presented in the books! Some examples: Pern uses minutes and hours, not candlemarks. Handfasting is a rare cultural tradition, not a widespread substitution for marriage. Dragons occasionally give their riders pet names, but don't call them 'Ridermine' in every sentence or use 'mine' to refer to anything that isn't theirs (like some other dragon's rider...). Try to remember if you've seen Anne use the convention you're using. If in doubt, leave it out.
5) Play on!
Some tips
1) Write your posts in Notepad, Word, TextEdit or something similar. Proboards is not always reliable, and your internet connection might not be, either - avoid composing long posts directly on the game.
2) Spellcheck. There's a spellchecker built into the posting system; use it! The easier your posts are to read, the more people will be interested in responding.
3) If you have any questions, just ask!
