Welcome to Tempus Fugit! We're very excited to be opening, and we hope other folks will be just as excited as we are and join us in creating drama, adventure and mayhem!
The Story So Far
Pern, in the middle of the Sixth Interval, is doing well. The population diminished by plague over 100 turns ago is gradually recovering, crafts are booming and the lack of thread means crops are especially plentiful. Spirits are high, and if there is a growing irritation for the burden of tithing to Weyrs that won't be proving their worth for another hundred turns, it's somewhat diminished by the memory of Moreta's brave deeds and the role riders played in saving the whole of Pern.
The only dark cloud over this bright time is that a string of children that have vanished from various holds and halls in the regions tithed to Telgar as well as Igen and Fort where those protectorates meet the Telgari border. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. Boys and girls from all walks and stations have gone missing, the only commonality that all the vanished have been younger than sixteen.
Without a clear villain to accuse and not a single missing child as yet recovered, the Caminar, a loosely-knit group of traveling traders that travels through all the places that have lost children, have become the region's scapegoat. They have been turned away from holds and halls where they were once permitted to stop and sell their wares, and they have been accosted on the roads and attacked. Their way of life no longer safe, the Caminar have looked to the only place in the region that has yet to strike at them: Telgar Weyr.
Within the Weyr, people have varied opinions of these unexpected (and arguably unwanted) guests. Some say commpassion befits a Weyr, but many others argue that eating well and having breathing room befits it more.
The senior queen's last flight resulted in an unexpected shift of power, replacing the well-liked and well-established Weyrleader S'lyn with the very young and very inexperienced J'fel. The Weyrwoman, Aderes, has made no comment on this change, but it's become clear that until J'fel has gotten properly settled, she's the one carrying out the duties of Weyrleader, even if the knot belongs to someone else. For reasons not quite understood by the rest of Telgar, the leadership has permitted the Caminar to assemble safely within the Weyr's walls.
Our curtain lifts as a clutch of twenty-six eggs, a queen included, hardens on the sands, and the Caminar begin their turnly summer celebration: an event usually held far away from curious outsider eyes.
Characters We'd Like To See
The 'characters currently accepted' document in the 'character profiles' section lists all the types of characters available for creating, but we're also listing specific characters or character types here that would be especially ideal for getting involved and helping to urge the story along.
S'lyn
The recently ousted Weyrleader of Telgar, S'lyn is pretty open to interpretation. Check out his sheet in the NPCs for Adoption thread to find out more about him.
Other ideas
A weyrlingmaster
Weyrfolk and riders who are vocally against allowing the Caminar to stay
Wingleaders and 'seconds, up to four of each; wingleaders should include a blurb in their profile describing their wing
Riders enjoying an increased freedom to experiment with methods in drills and exercises under J'fel's leadership
Posted crafters, including healers and harpers
Candidates (especially boys!)
Caminar! (including candidates, too!)
Open Threads

Want to start a thread of your own but don't know where to begin? Check out the scene ideas in the newsbox at the top of the main page! Candidates may also wish to play out search scenes - the hatching will be in June so there's plenty of time to make arrangements with someone playing a dragonrider. We also welcome candidates to present search scenes as standalone stories in the Vignettes forum!
