Characters and players will be called upon in Activity Check according to the following standards:
Unexpectedly Idle In A Scene
If a character is in an active thread but has not been posted in that thread for a week, yet has not posted departing the scene or otherwise finishing their involvement in the scene, they will be called on here. No big deal, just a reminder. This part of each check will be removed when no longer relevant.
Idle Players
If a player has not posted any RP for two weeks, they will be called on here.
If your character is called on in this thread, you have a week to post here or PM the moderators to let us know that character is active, and will be posing soon in their thread. At the end of that week, if you have not done so, the character in question will be moved to the archives until such a time as they are ready to be active again, and RP will move on around the characters so stories can progress. Posting here or PMing the moderators will result in the character not going to the archives, or in their being returned from the archives.
If you are called on as a player in this thread, you have a week to post here or PM the moderators. If you do so, you will have another week to post a character in a thread somewhere. At the end of either week, if you have not posted appropriately, your characters will be moved to archives under the same conditions outlined above. Idle player accounts are marked (Idle). No other changes to accounts are made.
Weyrling Activity
Since weyrlinghood is a unique opportunity to bond with one's fellow weyrlings and develop the characters of both weyrling and dragon, we ask that weyrling characters remain active throughout weyrlinghood. Weyrlings will have their own section in activity check with names called for a week's inactivity (except during posted leaves of absence). Consistently inactive weyrlings won't be able to graduate.
Leave of absence
If you're going to be gone, post in OOC Chat (so we can all wish you happy travels or whatever applies!). Leaves of absence (LOAs) should have (approximate) beginning and end dates when posted. They will be noted in any Activity Check called while the player is away, and during that time the player's characters will not be called upon in Activity Check regardless of inactivity.
Leaves may be taken for vacations, illnesses, school- or sport- or business-related traveling, and so forth - anything that will have you away from the computer for a (probably) finite amount of time. It is not necessary to post a LOA for a period less than four days (but feel free to do so if you wish).
LOAs are basically get-out-of-Activity-Check-free cards - please don't abuse them.
Limited availability
Please note that if your activity will be sporadic or less than usual it's no problem - you don't even need to post about it unless you want to! However, characters involved in threads are still expected to remain active in those threads, and weyrlings are still expected to post regularly. We recommend that folks with temporarily reduced availability join fewer threads while short on time so they don't get overtaxed or fall behind.
If you are experiencing access difficulties and have no idea when they'll end (dead computer, overtime at work, family visiting, etc.) please let us know whether you have limited access or no access. Inactivity/idles due to such difficulties will be handled on a case-by-case basis; be aware that archival and activity check may still apply. If your access is limited, please manage your time appropriately. We'd rather have a little of your RP than none at all! ;)
