G'tet earned himself another warm smile from Aleda as the grerenrider set the food up and shortly she perched against the rock to nibble. "If you wouldn't mind checking with him P'nset, I would appreciate it," the sabedoria said politely and looked up at the sky again. She waited a little longer, ate, had a little to drink then stood once more.
"Well. I suppose I should begin." She paused for a moment, collected her thoughts and gestured to the herbs she had set out. "These are some of the common plants that can be used to treat the symptoms of the plague, which are aches in the head and body, congestion, sore throat, wracking cough and a high fever that makes the body burn. The headache has been described as very painful and the cough as well. Though not foolproof, it can be helpful to wear a cloth over one's face to help prevent the sickness. If we encounter the sick, I think that is something that we should do." She went on to tell about how long it took for the illness to take hold and how quickly it spread back in Moreta's time.
"If you feel a pounding in your head and fatigue, you should take to bed or to rest right away." She looked between the two riders and gave them a little encouraging smile. "With luck we will curb the sickness before it spreads. In Moreta's time they used blood from the survivors as a cure. I am still reading about how this was done, but records here and the tales I know from the other healers amongst my people are a little vague." She touched the needlethorns on the rock. "Still, I have collected these to bring and hope to be able to read what I need to, to understand."

Unbothered, truly, about the whys of the outing was Kalpeth. She listened to Sarjenth’s words with all the attentiveness possible. Which was not very much considering the green in question, but still she did listen. When stretching wings was mentioned she did just that, extending hers and then settling them back down. It is true. I do enjoy a chance to fly. There is a moment there where Kalpeth gets distracted by a passing cloud before she refocuses back on Sarjenth. Perhaps we will fly together someday. Which could mean any number of things, but the coy way she says it and the way she swishes her tail slowly makes it clear her meaning.
G’tet, once things were laid out, settled onto the ground and grabbed a drink for himself. He was attentive to what Aleda said, trying to remember everything that was mentioned. The missing others was not a concern of his. He had a job to do and the greenrider would do it even if no one else came along. “We’ve no idea how sick anyone will be yea?” he asked. “No way to know how dangerous it will be when we first get there? It’s a big risk. I wonder if that’s why no one else is here?” He mulled on this while trying to keep track of all that was said.

Aleda shook her head in answer to G'tet's question. "No, we do not have that knowledge, since the Weyrleader did not have it," the sabedoria answered with the barest hint of frustration edging her voice at that lack of information. "All I know is what you know, G'tet, P'nset. What was said before. I think that a cautious approach is best, figuring out how many are ill, how ill they are and what we can do for them. It's very important to -- to keep it from spreading. Quarantine." This last word fell a little awkwardly from her lips. She had really only just learned it from reading in the Weyr's Records.
Her eyes sought out G'tet's for a moment, sharing her worry and concern but without traces of fear. "At least we know what we are facing and what we can do. In Moreta's time, they did not know. It was a fight against time. Could they figure it out quickly enough? Or would death claim all first? We can do so much more because we /know/. We just need to be ready." She paused and took a deep breath. "And if I can somehow get to those Records about the blood that would be even better."

“He was being pretty sly, our Weyrleader,” G’tet said with a grin that hid all of his concerns about that. It wouldn’t do to let an outsider see his worry about the err sanity of his Weyrleader. Best to just laugh it off. Haha what a fellow that J’fel was. “Cautious is my other name,” he tells Aleda with a wink. “Don’t you worry about that. I’ve no desire to get sick and spoil any future fun I might have.”
Even the greenrider could be serious some of the time so he fell silent to consider what Aleda wanted. “I’m guessing you’d need to go to the Hall for that?” he asks. That could be a problem as he wasn’t sure how well the craft would take to a female Caminar rooting through their records. “I suppose it might be doable. We’d need a reason why a greenrider should get to look at such things. Can’t hide what I am any more than we can disguise what you are.” He glanced at P’nset and then back to Aleda. “Umm. No offense to either of you, but it might be better if it weren’t him that took you.”

Aleda perched again, nibbling on a bite of the cheese and had a sip of her drink, considering G'tet's words. Amusement flashed on her face at the wink, but she looked between the two riders seriously. "I am, as they say, all ears to suggestions about how best to learn what we need to learn. Because I can think of no other way but the Hall's Records unless there is something else written somewhere that is easier to get to."

History had never been G’tet’s strong point. Since being called to the Weyrleader’s office he had gone to records to study up on the plague times, but there seemed little to help in this search found there. He sipped his wine and cast his glance towards Kalpeth who continued to appear to be flirting with Sarjenth. He did more quick calculations in his head, worried he’d counted wrong and she was due to rise sooner than he thought. It would hardly do to have her go up on their mission.
Looking from the brown to his rider G’tet shrugged his shoulders. “I can’t really say,” he told the wingsecond before looking at Aleda. “Harper would probably have records on it too, but I am not sure if that would easier or harder to get to. Healer would probably have the best records.” His mouth curved up into a grin that he shared only with the sabedoria. “We could try to charm our way in if asking didn’t work.”

"Harper," Aleda echoed with a thoughtful little nod, then pressed her lips together lightly, struggling to hold back a laughing smile as G'tet mentioned charm. "There is always that," she agreed with him nevertheless and finally gave up on holding back her smile and let it shine forth.

“Then again, we’re right by Harper after all if we visit Healer.” G’tet assumed now he would be taking Aleda on the search for information. Even if P’nset wanted to he did not believe sending two Caminar would work really well. Especially since the wingsecond did not possess the charm that the greenrider did. Pleased to have made her smile G’tet took another drink of his wine. Despite all that hung over them there was still something exciting in all this for him. Maybe it was that, or maybe it was Kalpeth’s good mood, but he felt right now like there was nothing that could keep them from succeeding in their quest. “If we’re going to go it had best be soon I imagine. In the next day or so. I can make time whenever you are free, Aleda.”

"Good point," Aleda noted with a nod towards G'tet. "The two Halls are together," she agreed and took another sip from her cup. "Sooner would be better than later," the sabedoria mumured softly then blinked once and shook her head to clear it, smiled at both riders. "Overall, once we are at the site, I can't say how important it will be to isolate anyone who is ill. We will need to be very careful about getting supplies and things like that, otherwise we risk spreading it. Also, we may need to go after anyone who has left the place recently. Bring them back. This illness once spread only spreads more and we would see a return to Moreta's time all too soon."

“Well, if we need more supplies we can always pick a spot away from the infection and have it dropped off. Then one of us flies to get it,” G’tet offered with a thoughtful nod. “Good thing about dragons is we don’t have to worry about being within speaking distance.” One of the many good things about dragons. “Going after people might be a problem…” He glanced at P’nset and then Aleda before offering a faint grin. “I guess it depends on how many come with us, yea?” At the mention of Moreta he shakes his head. “Faranth forbid we have that again. Telgar will make a better show of it this time.” As if the reputation of the Weyr were more important than anything else.

"True," Aleda agreed with the greenrider, "I forget about this all the time, dragons and riders, dragons and dragons." The sabedoria smiled over at the greenrider warmly then nods again. "I do not think it will be more than those who were in the meeting with J'fel." Her face darkens too, at G'tet's remark about the plague. "Yes," was all she said though as she brushed crumbs of bread from her fingers and looked between the two riders again. "We will all do our best, I'm sure."

“It can take some getting used to,” G’tet said to Aleda with a grin. “And if I forget you can’t do the same as the rest of us just give me a smack upside the head.” His grin deepened and he winked at the Caminar woman as if P’nset were not there. “But I expect you to tend my wound when you’re done.” His eyes drifted towards the sky and he let out an annoyed sigh.
“I do not think anyone else is coming. Is there anything else we should know now, Aleda? I’d best not be gone too long or my sister will question me endlessly about what I am up to.” What a woeful thing he made that out to be. Except for the display of dimples and the cheerful gleam in his eyes.

"No, I cannot," Aleda confirmed to G'tet solemnly though there was a betraying twinkle in her eyes. "And I'll be sure that any wounds do not last long," she quipped back to the greenrider. She, however, was mindful of P'nset's presence as she shook her head. "Those are the basics of what I have been able to find, unless there are questions ..." she trailed off and looked up at the sky too.
"We should stick close together until we know what we are dealing with and go from there."

“Thank you for sharing what you know, Aleda,” G’tet said with all seriousness now. “It is appreciated and we are lucky you consented to travel with us on our journey.” The seriousness faded with a quick grin as he gathered up the things he had brought. He’ll just have to finish the snack on his own in his weyr. Once he was done he saluted Aleda and P’nset before striding to Kalpeth to head for home.

"You're welcome," Aleda said with a smile and moved to clear up the things she'd brought. "Though if I could ask for a ride back from one of you, I would appreciate being able to skip the walk."
