Pern's been surprised before. Early in the Interval, Thread fell unexpectedly for about eight turns. But less than a Turn ago, it stopped and many people on Pern's northern continent still look warily to the skies, while others are anxious to forge ahead into the new era of the Tenth Interval.
High Reaches Weyr has been wracked by problems external and internal in the past four Turns, from one of its Holds attempting to pit Weyr against Weyr for its allegiance, to a recent spate of dealings with the shadier side of traders. Now it's looking to the brighter side of life, with plans for an ale-brewing operation that might lead to greater Interval independence... and with an imminent clutch, gold Rielsath having risen in her maiden flight and been caught by Ista's bronze Malsaeth. Booze and eggs. What could possibly go wrong?
