Bright skirts twirled and beading on hems and on plackets caught the light here and there. Laughter and shining eyes showed proof of good humor around the fire tonight. No one seemed to be making much of a fuss over Silvio's plantado guest yet, or perhaps no one had noticed. "Shorter? I have to admit, it's nice to have a dance partner who's nearer my own height," Silvio said with a little laugh and then he nodded. "I trust your faith in your brother. And Aleda is not -- well she's very independent," the Caminar said slowly, then laughed again.
His steps shifted, moving gracefully through another figure of the dance. "I've no worries about that. And so far, I am enjoying both music and company quite a bit."

If trouble would come for either of them over her presence Genet wasn’t going to worry about it right now. Let trouble come she thought with a little laugh just for herself. “Well, I shall not worry about my height then tonight,” she teased Silvio with a bright grin. “If only because it accommodates you so well.” They both had faith in their siblings and that seemed the best that could be said of it. Whatever wild goose chase they were off on their siblings had faith they’d get through it ok.
“I am having a great time!” And it had just started even. Genet did her best to follow along with the changing dance and the conversation. “Thank you for bringing me here. This is just what I needed to recover from earlier.” In fact all thoughts of J’fel were rapidly disappearing from her mind. There was no need to let annoyances enter her brain when she had music and dancing to attend to.

No trouble still, so far, just dancing around the fire, nearly a full circle all the way around in fact. "Don't worry about it at all," Silvio says boldly, leaning a little closer, but not too much so. "It suits you pretty well." And then he laughed again at her exclamation. "Good. Yes. I think working out frustration like this is good. Much better than many of the other ways."
Silvio didn't mention J'fel at all. He didn't see much point in it now. What's done was done. They'd tried and at least they had some information and it was probably even real. Either way, Aleda was with G'tet and G'tet was with Aleda and that hopefully meant they'd both be back safe very soon. For now, he focused on leading Genet through the steps of the dance until the music changed, going slower and he grinned at her. "Your turn to teach me one?"

“Ah, so you do not advocate the getting drunk and throwing punches method of working out frustrations,” Genet teased with a laugh. “I’ve never understood that myself, but I hear it’s a guy thing.” She couldn’t help but think of the brawl that had happened not so long ago. Clearly that was someone getting drunk and working off steam. A ridiculous thing if ever there was one and not just because it interrupted her shopping.
Genet kept up with the current dance and when the music shifted grinned. “My turn? Ok, let me see.” A second or two was needed to settle on an appropriate dance. One that matched the music and wouldn’t be too easy or too hard to learn had to be selected. “I never get to lead!” she told him excitedly before grabbing both his hands and starting up. Most of the dances she knew required more than two people, but with a little improvisation she’d get by.

"I uh -- well generally no, though I don't shrink from a fight if I think it's necessary," Silvio said slowly, his own thoughts drifting to the ill-begotten brawl and Milo's present state. "Sometimes it does help clear the air."
He smiled though as she claimed her turn and he let her figure things out. Laughter again at her exclamation. "Have at it then, who knows when you'll get the chance again!" he teases her and lets her draw him through the paces.

“Well, I’ve totally failed if by the time we’re done dancing you’d have the energy to fight anyway,” Genet said with a laugh. “Tonight or tomorrow!” Because if they were going to trade dances she’d keep at it until she had just enough energy to get to her cot and crawl into it.
Since she had the chance to lead Genet took full advantage of it. She kept them both moving as long as the song lasted although she never tried to spin him. Any spins that were done were either together or for her alone. Why should she share the one really fun thing women got to do in dances? Twirling about was hardly going to be appreciated by a man! Half way through the song she winked at Silvio and told him with a teasing laugh, “Ok, you’re pretty good I guess.”

"I've no wish or need to be fighting tonight," Silvio replied also laughing and kept on with the dancing, following Genet's lead and picking up the steps pretty quickly. "Fast on my feet?" he offered by way of answer, eyes twinkling.
The drums picked up the beat again, moving into something faster and a little less restrained. Another couple a little farther down started showing off some serious moves and then, there was one of Silvio's friends tapping him on the shoulder with an amused: "May I cut in?"

“Fast on your feet,” Genet agreed with a bright smile. “Probably matches your mouth. You seem the sort to talk his way out of anything.” Not necessarily a good thing, but she did not make it sound as if she meant it an insult. Not when speaking about Silvio anyway. Others, well, they might not be so lucky.
When the music changed Genet took a moment to look around and see what the other dancers were doing. Which might account for why she missed that friend of Silvio’s when he approached. Hearing his question caused her to laugh brightly and tell her partner with a teasing wink, “Ah. That’s cheating. You’ll get me all worn out and take a break.” Which was not exactly an objection because she turned her grin on the potential new partner and said, “He probably needs a break now anyway.”

"Do I? I'm not sure. But it's a saying that the word is mightier than the fist, isn't it?" Silvio countered laughingly, swinging along to the beat. That tap and the request lifted his head to take in the other Caminar requesting his partner and Silvio found himself loathe to let go. With Genet's agreement though, it would be impossibly rude not to release her so he stepped back, bowed over her hand. "A break? No. But I will catch up with you again in a dance or two," he said with certainty and looked at Marcil questioningly.
The other Caminar just flashed Silvio an enigmatic smile then answered in rapid Noestacan: "You can't have all the fun tonight with the pretty plantado girl. She must be looking for adventure down here if you brought her." And before Silvio could object his friend was leading Genet off to the beat. Frowning a little, he suddenly found himself questioning the wisdom of having brought Genet along. As it stood he went to find a drink and a spot where he could easily keep an eye on the fire and his erstwhile companion's whereabouts.

Genet had mixed thoughts on dancing with someone else, but she didn’t want to be rude. She was sure if is fellow was no good then Silvio would not have let her go so she decided to just enjoy her dances. “One or two dances,” the woman agreed with Silvio as she gave him a wide grin. “It’s the last break you’ll get so make the most of it!”
With her new dance partner she was as enthusiastic as ever, but Genet did not try to pester him with questions. For one thing she was not sure he’d be able to understand them all and for another she rather thought doing so right after meeting would get her nothing but silence. She had no wish to offend anyone when simply holding her tongue until she was back with Silvio would allow her to get as many answers as she was likely to. Without her original companion about she was quite aware of being the odd girl out and as she danced she made sure to keep track of where Silvio went in case she needed him for anything.

Silvio only flashed Genet another smile as he stepped away and Marcil swept her off. This Caminar wasn't as light on his feet as Silvio, though he danced well enough. What was more problematic was how he kept trying to draw Genet closer. "You're from the Weyr, yes?" he asked her curiously. Polite enough for all he seemed the 'grabby' sort.
On the edge of the dancing, Silvio knocked back another mouthful of the fruity liquor that sloshed in his mug and squinted through the fire towards the dancing pair. A girl he knew came over, linking her arm into his and chattering about the evening and how happy she was to see him and wouldn't he take her dancing, because she'd only been /waiting/ for him to be there. He hesitated for the barest fraction of a second then grinned and led her into the circle, steering their steps to sort of keep up with Genet and Marcil.

It was more than one dance going on at the same time for Genet and Marcil. There was the music providing them with a pace to dance to and there was the back and forth between the two of them. When Marcil would try to get closer Genet would move away. This was not the first time she had danced with a grabby man. “Well, I live at the Weyr now,” she said cheerfully. “But originally I am from a small hold outside Telgar. Not much to it really. My brother is here though so I wanted to visit for awhile.”
Her current dance partner may not have been as good as her original one, but Genet managed regardless. Even though she was still figuring out the unfamiliar dance she appeared as if she’d been doing it at least twice as long as she had been. Which was not that long, but every little big helps. When she turned her head to spy on Silvio it took a moment to locate him. She guessed he didn’t need a break after all since he was back to dancing with someone else. Genet almost laughed but wasn’t sure how to explain it to Marcil so settled for a smile which she figured he would interpret however he wanted. Men always did.

"Silvio, you aren't paying any attention to me," the Caminar man's dance partner said to him with a peevish slap to his arm. "Hmm? Oh I'm sorry," he apologized and looked a little sheepish. He felt uneasy still and kept looking over to make sure Marcil wasn't -- shells, he was. He was getting all grabby with Genet, assuming something he ought not. "Who's your friend anyway?" his partner asked and he dragged his eyes back downward. "Ah -- her brother has been helping Aleda with her work," he flubbed a little. And got a stare back for his trouble. "Aleda? Reaaaaaaalllllly ..." the girl drawled out with a very keen look. "So that's where she's been. Working." And the emphasis on the last word seemed to cast doubt.
Impatient, Silvio just nodded. "Yes, she has. She's been working. She'll be back soon and I ah -- I promised to keep an eye on Genet there." Not quite the truth in whole, he'd made no promise to /G'tet/ to do any such thing but he wasn't about to slice things fine.
Marcil's hand was creeping where it ought not again. "Ahh, so truly from the holds. And you've come down tonight and have a little fun with Silvio? He's a good friend of mine you know. Perhaps sometime you might come have a little fun with me?"
Silvio spun his partner around one more time and the music shifted. "Thank you," he said, bowed properly if a little abruptly then moved on to cut in himself before Marcil started over again. "Begging your pardon, but I'd like one more dance before I walk you home, Genet."

If Marcil was a little more persistent than some of the other men who’d suffered the same affliction Genet wasn’t going to get too annoyed over it. The last thing she wanted was to cause a scene. She continued to use the music to dance out of the worst of the attempts to be grabby and just allowed one or two that were harmless enough. It’s not like he would get what he really wanted she told herself. Although she had expected, once done with the weyrleader, to be free of such concerns for the night.
“Silvio and I were working on something together,” she informed Marcil with a cheery grin. There was nothing salacious about either grin or tone although she wondered if that would matter with this one. “And I came here to dance and that is it,” was said in a firm, if friendly, tone as she dodged another hand. If the dance had gone on much longer Genet might have been forced to something as crass as stepping on his foot to get her point across.
Luckily for her, and for Marcil’s foot, the music changed and Silvio appeared to save her. Marcil got a friendly pat on his arm before she stepped to her original partner with a wink. “How can I deny you one more dance?” Genet told him with a small laugh. “Especially since I’ve quite gotten the hang of it now.”

Marcil eyed Silvio with confusion and spoke, again in Noestacan. "What is with you tonight? Usually you are more generous with sharing." The words only pressed Silvio's mouth closed for a moment then he just gave Marcil a look and a shake of his head. Understanding flashed across the other Caminar's face briefly, before puzzlement descended again. Likely he was wondering now why Silvio had brought a plantado girl down here at all if he didn't mean to seduce her.
Still, Marcil stepped back, bowed. "Thank you for the dance," was all he said to Genet as Silvio reclaimed her hands and without missing much of a beat, swung her back into the circle. For her, he only had a merry laugh and another smile. "If you are getting the hang of it - then why only one?"
