It was annoying to no end for Genet to hear people talking and not know what they said, but since she couldn’t change that she just let it go. Marcil got a little bob of a curtsey and a cheery smile. “Thank you for the dance. You’re an excellent partner if a bit grabby.” A wink accompanied her words before Silvio was taking her back into the dancing.
“I thought you were ready to get rid of me,” Genet teased Silvio as they danced. “But now I see it was just a plot to free me from Grabby Hands over there.” She laughed as she wondered why it didn’t bother her that her former dance partner had been so intent on getting something from her. When J’fel put on the smooth act it made her want to punch him. Maybe it was just because he was weyrleader and she wondered how many women would feel they had no choice but to let him do what he wished. It was nothing to think on now however so she stored the thought away for later consideration.

That response earned a guffaw from Silvio and a backwards glance from Marcil with a sudden merry laugh. "Rid? Hardly," Silvio replied to her next tease and aimed for another spin. "Sometimes, Marcil gets wrong-headed ideas," he said with mock-solemnity. Even through the next set of changes of music, Silvio didn't let anyone else cut in. Gradually though the number of dancers around the fire was diminishing and eventually, he took a little pause, making to draw Genet off to the side.
"Breathless yet? Shall I walk you home?"

“Sometimes all men get the wrong ideas,” Genet informed with a bright grin. “It’s just something one has to get used to.” It was not always a bother to her the way it was to the prettier, slimmer, more delicate looking girls to be honest, but she still found it annoying when it happened. Even the lingering memory of grabby hands Marcil didn’t interrupt her enjoyment of the rest of the dancing though.
When drawn off to the side she laughed merrily. “Breathless? Is this where I say only by you, Silvio?” she teased with a smile. “As much as I hate to call it a night I should be getting back. I’ve early chores and the headwoman’s goons will delight in reporting me if I am late.” Looking back at the remaining dancers she shook her head. “But I am not breathless. I could dance all night. Only I’d never wake up then. You may walk me just past the encampment and I shall make my own way from there.”

That honest remark drew a wry smile from Silvio and he nodded. "You're right. We're dogs, we men," he said straightfowardly as they spun around. "I suppose my apology will have to do for the rest of my kind," he quipped further then quieted down in favor of concentrating on dancing.
After they'd paused and stepped aside, her teasing reply made Silvio grin again in that quieter shadowed spot, lit only by the flickers of light from the fire. "Would that it were so," he teased back though he did reach for her hand to bring up to his lips briefly, barely touching. "I'm glad you decided to come tonight," he told her sincerely and nodded for her plans, held out his arm. "I would not make you late for your work in the morning though, so while I find the idea of all night to be very attractive, best be sure you're waking tomorrow." His smile flashed whitely in the dark as he turned to lead the way back out of the camp.

“I think I might swoon,” Genet said with a teasing laugh when he took her hand to his lips. The laugh covered the little flutter in her stomach quite nicely. She thought it best to ignore those in favor of forming a friendship. It was sure to last longer than any dancing at night induced attraction would.
Once she was sure any silly momentary attractions were put aside she took his arm and grinned. “I am glad I came tonight too,” Genet told him sincerely. “I had a lovely time. I never get to dance enough. Thank you for bringing me.” She took a few steps in silence, but it just wasn’t in her to remain silent for too long. “I hope I’ll see you again. If you ever need help with the Weyr just find me! I can at least probably tag along and be sure someone actually listens to you.”

"Good thing I'm here to catch you?" Silvio quipped back laughingly, eyes warm with good humor. If his hand lingered on hers a little longer than strictly necessary before he offered his arm, she wouldn't notice, would she?
"It's been a good night overall. Just won't think /too/ much about this afternoon," Silvio agreed as they walked to the edge of the Caminar camp. "Come by any time to shop," he added teasingly. "But yes, I -- perhaps a walk sometime?" he suggested carefully "For as long as we are here, it would be good to see you again, as well." The last of the wagons was drawing near and Silvio paused. "Thank you for the dancing and your company, Genet. Good night."

“It is not a proper swoon if someone doesn’t catch you,” Genet said with a wide grin. “Otherwise you fall and get your dress dirty.” Something she so obviously cared about. Not that her clothes were not usually clean enough, but she certainly did not move like a woman concerned with a little dust and dirt. That was a sure way to miss out on life.
When he mentioned shopping there was a laugh for his words. “I do still need a new dress,” she told him with a wink. “And G’tet still has some marks left in my care. I wonder if I can wheedle some more out of those people he won bets off?” It was something to consider because really the marks were doing him no good and he did owe her.
“Thank you,” was said right back with a smile. “The dancing was great. You’re pretty good.” Genet paused and added to the compliment with a teasing grin, “Almost as good as me. I have a rest day coming up soon. I’ll track you down for that walk. Good night, Silvio.” Removing her arm from his she waved and took off at a run back towards the Weyr. She’d nearly been thinking about a kiss there at the end and that was a bad idea. We’re just going to be friends she reminded herself firmly. Not just another girl left swooning when he leaves.

"Good point," Silvio said laughingly back to Genet. "Wouldn't be any kind of gentleman if I let that happen," the Caminar continued, smiling as widely and nodded about the shopping. "You know where to find us."
More laughter at her claim of greatness and Silvio nodded. "You were great," he says more quietly. "And I'll look forward to that walk." He watched her go as she ran back across the Bowl towards the living caverns and ran a hand over his chin thoughtfully. He'd thought about kissing her good night, but that was probably a bad idea given the meeting with J'fel. She also wasn't just some girl he'd met in passing through a random hold out in the middle of nowhere. While often enough he'd been carefree about this sort of thing, he was all too aware of the fact that if either of them got attached, it was sure to make problems later when the Caminar left.
Silvio sighed softly and pushed away from the side of the wagon he'd been leaning against, looked up at the moons and stars braced in the ragged frame of the Rim. His feet itched and his skin crawled briefly at the crowding of the stone. More than any woman, the road was his mistress and she kept calling him and he couldn't answer. Yet.
