“Stupid drunken riders,” Genet said with a different kind of passion in her voice than he normally elicited. “What idiots. I am telling G’tet what they did and we’ll just see what happens. I should go complain to S’lyn. And what was up with what’s his face? I swear that was the wingsecond there. What a jerk!” She stopped, forcing herself to take a deep breath and settle down. There was no point getting worked up over something that had already happened.
“People are so dumb,” she said once she could speak without wanting to go hit someone. “Do you think-“ But she couldn’t say it all. Because then she had to think about him leaving. “I bet when G’tet gets back and they’ve solved this mystery things will be fine again.” It was still saying the same thing, but not quite admitting that he would be leaving. As much as she didn’t want to say the words they slipped out anyway, “Will you be ok when you leave?” Soon. Too soon.

"It's ... pretty much always the same," Silvio answered slowly, hand playing through her hair a little. "Someone gets angry about us filthy Caminar, decides to take it out on one or more of us. It happens, Genet. Usually I try not to let it go to fists. Tonight, it couldn't be helped. Thankfully we're all still alive and unbroken to tell the tale." He dropped a kiss to the tip of her nose another to the tip of her chin.
"Hmm?" for that abortive question and then a little shrug. "I doubt things will be /fine/ but perhaps back to just ... the usual," Silvio said slowly, traced the outline of her ear with one finger. "I hope we all will be. There's no way to tell really," he continued softly and moved to claim her mouth with his, silence troubling questions.

“I hate people sometimes,” Genet replied with a scowl. “I mean I don’t even get it what the big deal is.” Well, she gets what the deal is, but it doesn’t make sense to her. None of it makes sense and she feels herself getting agitated again so tries to think of something else.
Luckily for her she didn’t have to think of anything because there he was kissing her again. When she could breathe again she asked, “Will you leave again even if Aleda is not back? If you stayed-“ All sorts of bad things might happen, but she thought it worth a try. “If you go and G’tet’s not back I’ll be alone.” It was an underhanded sort of statement and the knowledge of that flashed in her eyes soon after she said the words.
With a soft laugh she stretched up to kiss his jaw. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to do that. I am not trying to guilt you into staying. It was a bad thing to do. Forgive me?”

"It has always been this way," Silvio said slowly and sighed, wound his arms back around her after he'd broken from that next kiss. "Though it would be nice if things were different. Easier." Fingertips traced up and down her spine lightly. "I -- don't know for sure what we'll be doing," Silvio said honestly. "I only know that we should be going quickly, to get ahead of the weather." His hand skirted down her back again. "I cannot learn my trade with my uncle if I am not with him. I will have to go, Genet, if he goes. Though I would rather be with you. Wherever you are."
He had another kiss for forgiveness.

“You can’t just say that,” Genet told him with the slightest of shakes to her head. “You can’t just say you want it to be easier or different or better. You have to do something about it.” She knew that things couldn’t change if someone didn’t do something although she’d never really thought she’d have to do something. Her dreams had just been more related to exploring. Who wanted to waste time messing with other people when one could rush around and just discover new things and places?
Of course if no one else was going to do anything it looked like it would be left up to Genet. As usual she couldn’t trust anyone else but herself to get the job done right! So once they had kissed enough for her to feel truly forgiven she told him, “So, you just have to work things on your end while you’re gone and I’ll work on things on my end while I am here. Soon enough we’ll have things working fine. No one can get in my way after all.”
She broke away from him then and sat up in their current bed. “I should be going,” she said forlornly. “I should get back to my own bed.” If he was leaving as soon as it seemed best to get used to sleeping alone.

Falling back onto his sister's pillows, Silvio ran a hand over his face. "Something to think about," he said quietly. "What /to/ do," he continued thoughtfully, then reached over to touch her hair again as she spoke. "Such determination," the Caminar said, half-teasing, half-admiring. "I don't think anyone could ever get in your way."
As she moved away he watched her go, rolled up onto his side, reaching again. "You could stay and we could scandalize everyone," he said, again only half-teasing. "Or I could come with you. I don't think there's any more drunken riders lying in wait tonight."

There was no answer for Silvio until Genet had at least located her clothes and pulled on her under clothing. She sat on the edge of the bed and dropped her dress on it to pull on her socks. Once that was done she looked over her shoulder at him and shook her head with a grin.
Dropping a kiss onto the top of his head she stood again. “Silvio, you’re not thinking,” she said with a lilt in her voice that hid any sadness she might be feeling inside. “I may love you for your pretty face, but I know you’ve a brain behind it. If we would only be scandalizing your family I’d not be out of the bed.” The rest of her words came after she’d pulled her dress on and was smoothing down her hair. In a more serious tone that bordered on chastising she pointed out, “You’ve a wife-to-be now. I’ll not insult and demean her by being caught in here with you. She deserves better than to have your lover made known to her in such a fashion.”
“Stay here tonight, Silvio. I just want to crawl into my cot and sleep.” Worried she might be too harsh sounding by now she sat back on the edge of the bed to give him another kiss. “Have you seen her since your betrothal or is that not done?” was asked curiously when she’d pulled herself away. “Take her for a walk or have lunch with her or something. It’ll be good for her.” Maybe not for either person in the wagon right now, but good for some girl being sent off to be married to someone she hadn’t known before those plans were made. “Be a good boy tomorrow and I’ll do something nice for you tomorrow night.”

"No, it's called wishful thinking," Silvio countered with a wry grin and kissed Genet back, fingers toying with a little fold in her skirt. "And I -- I don't want to hurt Avera either. She's just a girl," he said with a quiet sigh and made a little face. Serious hazel eyes lifted to Genet's face and he was quiet for a moment, then nodded, accepting her statement about wanting to sleep at face value.
"I have sat at her father's fire for supper on the nights I have not come to you and walked with her after." Silvio said this slowly, fingers still winding back and forth in Genet's skirt. "She's very sweet and very young and it scares me a little that if this marriage goes forward, I will be responsible for her and all of her happiness. I feel hopelessly unable sometimes." He raked a hand through his hair and lay back, looking up at the ceiling. "I am 'being good', Genet. I am doing my duty," he said quietly, face suddenly serious. "Doing the right thing as best I can, even if it's hard."

“Wishful thinking gets you nowhere,” Genet says with a sigh as she sticks out her tongue to the Caminar. “You have to act on your thoughts.” Said the woman who never had a thought she didn’t act on. She tugged on her boots as she listened to what was said and before replying leaned down to give him another kiss.
“You’re a good man, Silvio. I wish things were different, but they’re not. So we have to do the best we can. I’m glad you’re being good to her. I’d have had to punch you otherwise.” Even if she didn’t much like the thought of him marrying someone else she wouldn’t let him be mean to the poor girl.
Standing up she smiled down at him. “You’ll make her happy. So long as you try. You made me happy and I’m quite difficult to please.” Genet tossed her head back and then grabbed her hair to tie it up into a quick braid. “Now get some rest. I’ll see you tomorrow, ok? Maybe we’ll sneak outside rather than risk the weyr again.” Because one fight was kind of fun and two was just a pain.

"It can be inspirational," Silvio countered again and reached up a hand to twine into her hair as she bent to kiss him. He held her to him, hand lingering along the back of her neck as the parting kiss broke.
"I don't think I have it in me to be /mean/ to Avera. Might make it easier if she were hideous and mean herself, but she isn't and for all I want to be selfish, no, I can't be cruel to her." Hazel eyes followed Genet's movements as she straightened, braided her hair back. "I don't find you difficult at all," he murmured, voice shifting into wistful fondness. "I'll meet you down by the first creek," he promised, "just after dark."
On his side again he watched her go, drinking in every last second while she was still in view. "Good night, love," were his last words as she slipped out. Once she was gone, Silvio sighed and rolled onto his back, hands pillowing his head and looked up at the ceiling feeling tired, achey and heartsore. He wished Aleda would get back already, because he really needed to talk to someone sympathetic about all of this.
