Silvio could feel that distance and it troubled him. Something panicky worked its way up in his chest and he swallowed the sudden lump in his throat. "I've been thinking about -- about staying. About backing out of the engagement," he told Genet very seriously, looking into her face. If only Silvio knew that this was ground already trodden that she might remember even if he didn't. "I don't know if staying would work though, Genet, you'll be a rider and I'll still be Caminar and hated by most here. I would have nothing to offer you, but my company."
"Tomorrow when it comes," Aleda answered G'tet with a laugh that echoed off the Bowl walls a little as they reached Kalpeth and she bumped his hip back then turned to lace her arms around the greenrider's neck. "Promise?" she teased him with brows arched and eyes dancing winningly.

Her heart quickened at his words, but Genet held her tongue. What should she say? She thought she remembered words from before, but it was hard to focus on the past few months and make sense of two sets of memories. The ones without Anquilith were harder to remember and she was sure that whatever made this familiar was from the other set then. “Silvio? I don’t want you to stay if you don’t want to.” She frowned a moment and then said, “But I think calling off the marriage is a good idea. If you don’t love her and she doesn’t love you anyway. I mean if you want to marry her then go right ahead of course. I don’t really care.”
And it was odd but she didn’t care. It’s not that she didn’t care for Silvio, but him being married wouldn’t change that. They could never marry after all. “It’s your decision, Silvio. I can’t marry you and travel with you and have children with you. If you want those things you need to marry her. Even if she’s just a baby.” Not that her parents had not tried to marry her off early, but still. “But I think if you wanted to stay you could make a good life for yourself. Most people don’t even know you so how can they hate you? You could always just stay here through the winter, you know.”
Kalpeth’s tail swished impatiently as G’tet stopped near her to speak to Aleda. “I promise,” he tells her with a roguish grin. Even though Kalpeth was impatient he still didn’t move just yet. Instead he took advantage of their position to give the Caminar woman a kiss. It was a long time coming. Five months so it seemed and when it was over he said two things before giving in to Kalpeth’s wishes and climbing on her back to help Aleda do the same. “And a dragonrider never breaks his promise. But I should warn you. It’s been months since I’ve done this. I might be rusty.” As long as it had been for her.

"As if it's not obvious what my blood makes me," Silvio said with the faintest trace of bitterness. "I am Caminar and always will be, no matter where I go." Still his hands were lifting to cradle her face gently. "If you weren't a weyrling, a rider, I would be asking you, in spite of everything." Why did he feel like he'd said something like this before? Why did he feel almost compelled to say it now? Silvio felt dizzy, breath caught somewhere between his chest and his throat. "How can Avera and I love each other? We barely know each other. I like her well enough for her sweet nature, but she is not you." He considered her last words and furrowed his brows, thinking. "If my uncle decides to stay, then I will stay for the winter. I would like to continue learning my trade at least if I'm going to leave the caravan."
In Kalpeth's shadow, Aleda tilted her face up to G'tet, smiling at the rogueish nature of his grin and her hands curled around the nape of his neck as he bent to kiss her. The press of her body to his, the softness in her mouth could really leave him with no question at all about what her intentions were. As he spoke those caveats she only laughed. "Then I might have to help refresh your memory," she teased him, leaning up on her toes to catch at his earlobe with her lips before stepping back and away to climb up Kalpeth's side. Nowhere near as long for her, but Th'ane had remained in the past and Aleda did not know why. G'tet was here and now and the chemistry between them undeniable. Here and now was what mattered.

“Nothing will change if we don’t change it ourselves,” Genet pointed out. “Our people will never get along if we stick to our own kind. We have to be willing to do something.” She was willing to do something and wasn’t sure why Silvio seemed less enthused. “I would like you to stay with us,” she says softly. “But I understand if you have to go. And I will understand if you marry her. I won’t like it, but I will understand.” Oh, boy would she not like it. There would be serious consequences. She tried not to let her tone indicate any such thing, but she wasn’t sure she succeeded. “Come on,” she said suddenly as she stood up. “We’re going for a walk.” Reaching down to grab his hand she tried to haul him up.
Across the bowl Kalpeth winged into the air. She was glad to finally be headed for home. All the napping during the day had not been enough and she was glad enough G’tet seemed to be ready to stop going anywhere so she could sleep. Her landing was one of her better ones with just a light stumble at the end. Not enough to jar her passengers. G’tet slid off quickly and held his hands again for Aleda. He was ready to pull her inside. Ready to stop talking for a good long while and he was pretty sure she felt the same way.

"I just don't want to let you down," Silvio confessed with a little wry chuckle and ducked his head. "I want to be someone who is more than just a caverns-worker or a gambler in a casino. I want to be someone you'd want to be with," he continued, eyes on hers. "And maybe find some common ground between the world I come from and this ..." he gestured briefly to the Bowl around them. "Because I love you and I don't want to lose you because of tradition and distance coming between us." Again that weird feeling was pressing at the back of Silvio's head and he took a deep breath, let it out to shake the pressure. When she tugged on his hand he rose easily off the ground, utterly forgetting the plates in the process. "Lead on!" he said more merrily this time.
The ride up to G'tet's ledge was short and Aleda wound her arms around the greenrider's waist as they lifted through the air. Her hands though, were far from innocent in the way they wandered along his shirt front. Up on the ledge, she slid off right after and right into G'tet's arms, pulling him towards her so their progress inside wound up stumbling and hectic rather than smooth. Definitely time to stop talking and get down to the very serious business of /doing/.

“You worry too much,” Genet told Silvio with a merry laugh. “You’ll be who you are and I’ll still like you. Don’t you understand?” she said coming to a stop not too far from where they just were. “I don’t want you to change. I don’t want you to be unhappy. And I don’t want you to spend your life trying to do something that will make me happy. That’s not how it should work. Your job is not going to change how I feel.” How did she feel? Oddly enough she wasn’t sure. She cared for him and wanted to be with him, but did she love him? Could she love him? She loved Anquilith and was it fair to love someone else less than that? She had to talk to G’tet again soon. “Just be who you are, Silvio,” she told him before kissing his cheek. “That’s all I want of you.” The mood felt as if it were getting heavier so she dropped his hand from hers and grinned brightly. “Come on! Race you around the lake! Loser has to take the plates in.” Without waiting for an answer she took off running. (OOC: Aleda? I think we’re done a bit with G’tet/Aleda? Nothing they’re doing for awhile is post-worthy. I’m happy to pick up after the fact though either here or in a new thread.)

All of that brought a smile to Silvio's face and he squeezed her hand lightly. "It's for me too. I like what I've been learning and I don't want to stop." Unaware of the progress of Genet's thoughts, he was simply happy to hear her say that she cared and leaned into that kiss a little, reached up to touch her cheek lightly. As she dropped his hand and took off he stood blinking for a second then let out a low shout. "Hey!" And off he went after her, trying to make up for lost time.
OOC: Think we're done on both, yep? Will start new thread for G'tet/Aleda.
