Unfamiliar light. Unfamiliar sheets. Unfamiliar bed. Unfamiliar -- no wait, very familiar greenrider. Aleda's eyes opened and she looked out into the dimness of G'tet's weyr, listened for sounds of life, then rolled over to slip an arm around her bedmate. Her chin found a spot to prop itself on his shoulder and she waited mostly patiently for him to wake up.
Second day home and things she'd pushed aside yesterday were crowding back into her mind and making an ache behind one eye. Determinedly she pushed them out of the way again. Right now, she had a very nice greenrider to focus on and she wasn't about to let a little time travel get in the way of her fun.

G’tet was, just like his sister, slow to wake up. Burrowing under blankets was a better option than opening eyes so it was usually Kalpeth, oddly enough, who saw the pair up and at them when a new day began. This morning was going to be an exception as Kalpeth snoozed still on her couch while her rider slowly became aware that someone was in his bed.
His eyes didn’t open quickly as he waited for his brain to catch up. Time travel, changing the world, Genet’s green dragon- Oh. Right. Aleda in his bed. Now he was awake and before opening his eyes a grin spread across his face. Wide awake now he turned that grin on the Caminar woman. “Here we are,” he said with a laugh. “I guess no one else changed any history on us while we slept.”

Aleda's lips found that edge of G'tet's arm as he woke and she smiled down at him, leaned back a little to give him room to turn over if he wanted to. "Mm. Still here, and unless the sky has suddenly turned purple, no one else has changed time." She was quiet for a moment and lifted a hand to smooth gently through his hair. "Unless they have and that is why we are together now," she said with a low, wry chuckle. She took a deep breath, let it out and snuggled down against him. "And if that is so, I am glad that they did, because I am very glad to be /here/ this morning."

“Well,” G’tet said as Aleda snuggled against him. “Either way I’m glad you’re here now. Of course if history had to change I could just hope you were replaced with your brother.” He laughed quietly as he rolled over to prop himself up on one elbow and look at her. “But I suppose you’ll do,” he said with an ever so weary sigh and a twinkle in his eyes. “A shame Genet called dibs on him. Have any others?”
He lifted his gaze to eye the sleeping Kalpeth and then looked back to Aleda. “It looks like our ride to breakfast is still asleep. And I am quite sure Genet’s eaten me out of hearth and home while I was gone.” Merriment left his eyes then and he shook his head. “We changed the world, Aleda. I never thought about it. About what it might mean. But it’s like a whole new place we’ve come back to.”

There was a little nudge of her fingers into his chest for wishing she was her brother. "If I were my brother, I would not be here," she points out laughingly and drifted the backs of her knuckles down his chest. "One married, two much younger. And Milo is ... only fifteen." She regarded him steadily and solemnly. "As far as I know, none of my brothers are inclined in the manner of greenriders, though it is too soon to tell with the youngest." She took a breath and went on. "If any of them were it would be hard for me to know. Caminar do not support men who like men. They would be beaten to within an inch of their lives."
Her fingers brushed lightly back up the other way, paused somewhere interesting to be a little naughty. "I am not hungry for food yet, we ate well last night," Aleda said quite seriously, though humor danced in her eyes then faded a little and she nodded, we did. "And ... the thought did cross my mind, but in the end such an evil as that plague I could not in good conscience leave to run wild." Her hand shifted upward again, not playful this time, but affectionate, curling along his cheek. "It is like a new place, a little unsettling really. What to expect around every corner? Another change? But you, you are have not changed and neither have I and there is comfort in that for me. In you. Your company."

“Well, then,” G’tet says with a mock sigh. “I shall have to settle for you.” And then he was content to enjoy just lying in bed with her hand moving to and from interesting locales. But he stiffened a little when she mentioned her brothers and eventually shook his head. “As if a beating would change anything. Faranth knows my father tried and look how I turned out. A disappointing greenrider. A disgrace to the family.” He makes a rude gesture to the room in general and says, “Take that father. Just for you.”
He stretched out further in the bed and chuckled trying to put that disturbing conversation behind him. “Well, good. Because I cannot offer you food for your hunger.” Oh, the innuendo in that phrase. It was heavy with it and he added a wink as well because why not? She clearly did not mind. “I’ve not changed? Well, I do not feel as if I have changed. But I wonder if we would know? If you were not the Aleda who left would you remember? Would I?” It was troubling. That he might not be himself. Although he felt like himself. And Kalpeth remembered him.

"Settling is it?" Aleda said with humor rich in her voice that faded rapidly from her face as he went on. "Oh G'tet, he did?" Compassion filled the sabedoria's eyes and she wound her arm around the greenrider, squeezed tight. "And no, it does not change anything, but it cause those who are not careful pain and so, it is best for most Caminar men with such inclinations not to show them," she said softly and leaned in to kiss the angle of his jaw.
The teasing that returned to G'tet brought out a renewed smile on Aleda's face and a moment later she was rolling up atop him, straddling his waist and gathering the covers up behind her over both of them as a chilly draft wound through the weyr. "I'm sure you've plenty else to offer to satisfy me," she answered, eyes dancing once more, hands caressing the length of his arms. But he went on and her gaze shaded troubled briefly. "I don't know. To be honest, I have been trying not to think about it since yesterday." Fingers trailed lightly down his chest and her smile turned wry. "Especially when there are much less disturbing things to think about."

“Don’t worry about it, Aleda. It is the past.” G’tet would not let his father’s behavior in the past ruin what was shaping up to be a very good morning indeed. “My father will have to live with the shame of two of us on green now. As soon as we’re able Genet and I shall go see him. Perhaps we’ll be horribly rude and bring you and your brother along just to show how far we’ve fallen.”
The whys and how of time travel left his mind when Aleda moved and he looked up at her with a grin. “You are trying to distract me from serious talk, young lady and I do not approve.” He most certainly did not. Which was why he pulled her to him for another kiss and anything else that came to their minds while trying not to think of what may or may not greet them today.

"Then we'll both have fathers ashamed of us," Aleda said softly while her hands continued to wander. "Something else in common from completely different walks of life," she said and that was her last thoughtful comment for a while as she sought to banish the morning's chill from the air in the weyr with her response to that kiss.
A little while later, drape across G'tet and playing with his fingers, Aleda tipped her face up to the greenrider and sighed softly. "They will be looking for me and you probably have duties, but I would like to ask, G'tet, if I might come back tonight? Or another night?"

Duties. There were definitely things he should be doing, but G’tet was having a little trouble thinking of what those duties should be after what they’d been doing. He sprawled on the bed and stared at the ceiling with a grin on his face. “Huh? What?” he asked with a laugh. “Yes, you should go see your family. And you are welcome to come see me whenever I am-“ There the greenrider paused not sure how to put it politely. Finally he just said, “If you see Kalpeth entertaining then I’m entertaining.” It’s not like she didn’t know what he did already and with whom.

That first response drew out a merry laugh and Aleda leaned forward to drop a kiss to the corner of G'tet's mouth. "I have patients to see, more than my family. They -- already mobbed me yesterday," she said with a wry smirk. "But there are other things I will need to attend to." There was a slight pause. "Including a near-fiance that I did not have before we went back in time," she says with a soft snort.
The sabedoria nodded at his explanation. "Of course. And if you would care to entertain /me/ you've only to meet me in the clearing where we showed everyone the medicines for the plague," she says lightly. "Leave word with Silvio, I'm sure he'll see to it. After all he is courting your sister." Again her mouth pulled to the side wryly. "He will have to figure out what to do about /his/ fiancee soon," she murmured. The Caminar woman stretched, leg deliberately nudging against his. "Thank you for a lovely welcome home night, G'tet." Her hand found his cheek again and she leaned in to kiss him lightly this time, tenderness in the gesture, before she slid out from under his sheets to get dressed.

Wake up, lazy bones G’tet sent to Kalpeth. Time to take the lady down. Kalpeth grumbled to her rider, but her slow whirling eyes opened to watch Aleda rise from the bed. G’tet sat up and watched her as well. “I am pleased to have been of assistance. I hope things go well with sorting out your intended.” His head shook. “What a mess we come back to. Still it was an adventure. Genet will be jealous the rest of her life that I changed history and she was stuck here. Although she might consider Anquilith adequate compensation.” What was there to say about Silvio? Nothing at all so he just stood and got dressed quickly so him and Kalpeth could take Aleda down to the bowl where he gave her a quick kiss before allowing her to set her feet on the ground.

Smoothing out the skirts of her gown, Aleda made a semblance of an effort to tidy her hair then waited for G'tet, reaching for his hand for the walk to the ledge and Kalpeth. "A big mess," she agrees and her brows furrowed briefly, her free hand coming up to press against her temple. The ride down uneventful, swift, saw her laughing at the end for that kiss, exuberantly returned then she was on the ground again and walking straight-backed with a little flip of her skirts towards the Caminar camp.
She only looked back once, with a smile just for G'tet.
