It was probably a relief to a great number of people that K’mar did not ask for anyone to trust him. It had always seemed fair since he had never trusted a soul in his life. Other than Volsteath now of course. Still, as he did not advertise this fact it did still leave some thinking he wanted more from them than he was willing to give in return.
He was more than content to let the other weyrling get the last word. Conversations were not contests to K’mar but something to be endured. But there she was grabbing at his sleeve and it took all his self-control to not jerk away from her fingers but to instead stop and then turn around slowly. “She is but a child still,” he allowed with a quick jerk of his head that might be a nod.
“She will learn how to speak what she means. I hope for your sakes it is sooner rather than later.” Which was him saying that he did not indeed have any reason for him and Volsteath to not have taken the gold at her word. “It is best we do not talk overly much regardless of what words were shared between Volsteath and Deoneth. If by doing so people are likely to get the improper idea.” Like your friends were words he only thought. “I hold no offense towards you or your queen. Good day.” This time he was quicker about his escape towards the ladder and freedom from talk.
