AIVAS failed.
Not spectacularly, not catastrophically. Not even totally. But the goal of ridding Pern of Thread in a generation was not met.
The tenth Pass would come, and the eleventh...and now, the tenth Pass is just around the corner.
Dragonriders from Igen, exploring in the deep south, came into contact with a disease. Their firelizards caught it, got sick, and got better. Their dragons caught it...and died.
Igen was all but destroyed and the plague spread to the rest of Pern, decimating the Weyrs before a cure and vaccine were created from the ichor of the infected firelizards.
But the disease had one last sting in its tail. The queens rose to mate, one after another, and did not clutch.
Now, the hope of Pern lies with Ista's young Weyrwoman, Yselka, and a dragon hatched from a dying queen's clutch. Thread falls in a Turn.
The question on everyone's lips.
Will Lyeth clutch?
Pern: Rebirth is a new, semi-canon game set at Ista Weyr at the start of the Tenth Pass. We are looking for characters of all types, including bronzeriders and, of course, candidates.
