Name: J'rad
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Rank: Wingsecond
Wing: Sleet
J'rad stands at exactly 6'0 with a slight muscular build. He has dark brown eyes with short black hair. He usually dresses himself in black, but can be found wearing browns and perhaps other darker colors. J'rad usually comes off as having a gruff exterior and usually has a serious, if not scowling or angry face about him. He has a few scars on him from when he was mauled as a candidate, the dominant permanent one being the long curved scar on his chest.
J'rad is considered tough, unpleasant to be around, sharp tongued, foul mouthed, angry, and a loner. In most all accounts these considerations are correct. J'rad has a gruff exterior and usually doesn't enjoy the company of others. Even the company of his dragon can annoy him. Though he won't admit it, yet his dragon knows it, he loves his dragon as any other dragonrider. J'rad isn't one to open up, to show any positive emotion, sometimes no emotion at all, and isn't one for conversation or small talk. Though his work ethic is never in question. He does his duty as any other dragonrider and tolerates other dragonriders as best he can, atleast in formal situations. Though his dragon knows another side of him he's not willing to show. J'rad's usual personality is just an exterior, a shell. And J'rad can actually learn to care and be social should he allow himself to open up. This is something that may cause many an arguement between rider and dragon, usually ending the same way every time.
J'rad, before he impressed, held the name Jorad. He was born at Crom Hold and searched when he was 18 turns. J'rad was born into a family that was well off, though not rich. However, they believed in work and duty, a life style J'rad had no choice but to accept. So from the very beginning, it was something he understood and had to do. Like most in the area, J'rad was a miner and worked until the day of his searching. But he was picked almost immediately and only one other was searched with him. J'rad felt a sense of destiny, being chosen so quickly and always had a feeling in the back of his mind that he was meant for more than just mining. He was all too eager to leave his family behind him, not having any close friends in the first place. He packed his bags, but did manage a goodbye to his family. A sense of cocky attitude now placed in him, J'rad wasn't overly impressed with the other male that was searched along with him. He knew of him, he didn't seem the type to be a "mighty dragonrider". He thought perhaps the brownrider that searched them perhaps made a mistake, perhaps the brown mistaked the boy for someone else. He only figured they would understand their mistake when he didn't become a dragonrider. Brought to Telgar, he stood as a candidate on the sands along with the other boy. However when the first brown was hatched and began looking through the male candidates, he unexpectedly mauled Jorad, leaving a few scars and some of which are still visible to this day. The brown, to his suprise, impressed the male candidate that was searched along with J'rad. The brown moved on to impress the male behind him, though a small bronze walked up to him, and spoke to him. The bronze had just hatched shortly after the brown and now he had found his rider. Sneering through the pain, J'rad's "destiny" was realized. He impressed a bronze. J'rad never found much favor with his peers, or even older dragonriders, his attitude usually found too foul or dark for most. Perhaps this was in part to his injuries, and struggling to get past them and stay in step, if not a step ahead of the other weyrlings. However, this did cause some tension at first between Arcaith and himself. He found Arcaith was too fast and swift for him in his current condition and any failure he would automatically put off on the dragon, though the dragon was too proud and arrogant, boasting it was the rider's fault for allowing his injuries to slow him down. However, when his injuries began healing, the tension slowly dissolved. As they did begin healing, J'rad once again showed his true colors, excelling in his lessons and seemingly making up for his previous lag. With the arrival of the Caminar, J'rad found himself yet another group of people he didn't care to interact with, commenting that it did nothing more than stretch out their resources and crowd their space.
Dragon's Name: Arcaith
Color: Bronze
Age: 9
Physical Description: Arcaith is a lighter colored bronze, lighter than average though not overly so. He isn't a large bronze, but average size. Though he's very muscular and bulky.
Personality: Arcaith seems to be a bit opposite from his rider. The dragon can show kindness, compassion, and concern and does show it often. He tends to have the no-nonsense kind of personality and is often arguing with his rider, if not on the same general issues. J'rad seems to be the only one Arcaith will lose his patience or temper with, but from the outside this can just be seen as an elderly couple arguing. In the end, dragon and rider always care and love each other, though both tend to be too thick headed to admit it, especially J'rad.
