This was... This was... Horrid!
The female sighed, looking at the endless piles of scrolls after scrolls after scrolls. She was meant to organize them in their rightful place, now, and with a time limit -- for afterwards she was requested to bring a couple of supplies from the store room. "I would so prefer being outside chasing wherries right now..." With a sigh the female plummeted into one of the chairs, poking the nearest scroll before watching it twitch ever so slightly. Odd, scrolls didn't twitc--
"Shards and shells!"
She had leaped back, managing to efficiently knock the chair, and herself, to the ground, before watching the tunnel snake that slithered out. How that got in there she didn't knew, but Erabel didn't felt like finding out either. "Why you little pest... Out! And stay out!" Managing to grasp it around the neck, and avoiding harming it too much, the female headed outside, before tossing the thing into some bushes close to the place where the heardbeast fed. They could deal with it now. Rubbing her hands against her trousers lightly she returned back to the scrolls that awaited, before beginning the task of finding just where, exactly, they were meant to go.
...
It took a while, but finally she had been done ans, having delivered the asked ingredients as well as helping clean a vast majority of the dormitories and bathrooms, the female had been granted the rest of the afternoon off. With much relief she took the offer before the Headwoman changed her mind, scampering out of the lower caverns. A quick stop to her sleeping place, where she grasped some extra clothing, before he headed off to the northwest area of the Bowl.
Yes, the lake sounded like such a nice place to relax and cool off.
Anxious, and wishing to relax already, the female trotted half the way -- finally reaching her much desired spot. Since no one seemed to be around the female took the freedom of disposing shirt and trousers, sinking into the waters with her undergarments. The area she;d chosen was rarely visited -- and so the female didn't truly expect any unexpected company. Her clothes, and the extra batch she had brought, lied next to one another -- folded neatly on a rock. She would ditch the clothe she had been using in her chores today -- reason why she had brought an extra set.
No one liked to come out of a peaceful lake to dress back in filthy clothes.

Peace! Blissfully – dragon-absent - peace!
Xyruth was asleep, and his rider had just had his first time since impression to be alone Was it a crime for a rider to have his own time? /away from his dragon, or his dragon’s constant bombardment of over enthused thoughts? Time where Ez’ki could just sit, remain, and exist. And nothing else? Where he was not forced to think, where it was snot Xyruth’s moment, or Xyruth’s needs, or Xyruth’s desires?
He stalked his way off to a very nice, serene spot he had found earlier, when he was a candidate, so about four days previous. He smirked, he’d already sussed out the quiet spots of the weyr, the ones where people generally weren’t to be seen, and this, and well this one was right up his street.
His path meandered off towards a lake, one not so central to the weyr. He sighed as he approached, slipping to the floor with a huff, he tugged off his boots, placed them aside – after all they were a class piece, and he was not going to abuse them, goodness knows when he would have the chance to go looking for garments again now he was impressed. He may have to bribe a rider to take him back to Telgar hold for a while, just so he could pick up a few extras off this and that, his clothing felt sparse in comparison to what he had back home.
Rolling up his trouser legs, he sunk his feet into the cold water, gave a short sigh, it was nice to be doing nothing again, He did that so very well, even if he did feel like he was being totally and utterly overwhelmed by the multitude of tasks he was being given as a weyrling.

The arrival of another was barely noticed, mainly because the newcomer hadn't really made much sound to give his presence away. That, combined with the fact Erabel was currently more focused in her relaxation than any possible visitor, meant the female was blissfully oblivious to Ez'ki. A content yawn, followed by the stretching of her arms, before Erabel settled herself in a non too deep area, her back resting against a rock that was half sunk into the lake's edge. This was the good life.
"Mmm... I could simply stay all day here..."
Chocolate eyes closed she allowed her mind to drift away, faintly aware of the water as it swirled around her, occasionally rising and caressing her shoulders before lowering once more into a calm and peaceful state. This really was such a nice spot...
((Mind-blocked. XD))

Opening his eyes a little (not that they had been closed, but they were closed to observing) he spotted a girl, shards... I missed that . He looked, she was swimming, well she was she was now resting against a rock in the lake, talking to herself. "I know what you mean" He replied, feeling remarkably cocky all of a sudden, she was totally unaware of his presence, and it made him feel like a complete intruder on a very private moment, but he was the sort of perverted male who liked situations like that, they made him smirk, and needless to say he found them highly amusing.
The rays of the Rukbat gleamed from the waters’ surface, making him look very, very vibrant, even in the dazed reflection in the rippled reflection. He'd not seen her around; she certainly wasn't one of the girls who had stood at the clutch, for Sassie's gold. Deoneth. He couldn't help but well with pride as he thought of that girl, the blue bangle seeming all the more imperfectly beautiful in the full gaze of the sun.

"I know what you mean."
The female gave a slight nod, agreeing for a moment, before her mind finally clicked on one tiny detail. Words didn't form on their own, and thus someone else had to said them. And for that to happen it meant someone else was there, besides her. And she was in her under garments. Shards... Eyes opening the female quickly scanned her surroundings, spotting Ez'ki. Not that he was hard to miss, with all that mass of long reddish hair and accessories. In fact, for a moment, she would have almost confused him for a Caminar. Except Caminar did not have vibrant colors in their hair. A bit more thinking, and she managed to pin-point him. She had seen glimpses of red in the hatching -- most probably this was one of the new Weyrlings.
"You know, it's quite impolite to sneak up on people..."
Her almond shaped eyes remained on his form, reluctant to move away and lose knowledge of where the male was. She'd had her share of experience on how some riders could be, and she knew not if he fitted in with the stereotype she had met the most. A faint scoff, more of disappointment than anything else, was barely audible. Great, she had wanted some peace and quiet -- and instead she found even more company. Another scan of the area, no one else seemed to be nearby. Good. If this male turned up to be like many of the others she could just gather up her things and leave -- the only one to watch would be Ez'ki and, frankly, Erabel didn't found it a big deal for one person to see her under garments. It's not like she was totally naked anyway.
But for now she remained in the water, eyes settled on this stranger as she waited -- waiting to see how he would react.

Ez’ki laughed, she was quite the brash girl now wasn’t she! Bold as a button that one, “I done no such thing, I just came here the exact same as you did my dear.” His chortle faded, The exact same could be suspected of you, who knew that becoming a rider would mean girls presenting themselves to me drenched in their undergarments?” He leaned forward, enormously amused by the situation.
Placing his elbows on his knees, and his hands cupping his chin, he leaned forward, feet swishing about gently in the lake, red locks falling either side of his hands, “You really are something, you know that? I think it’s rather impolite to comment in such a way to a rider, especially without introducing yourself, my dear.” He looked down on her with a rather predatory come aloof smile, she was so completely amusing to him. Here she was, in her undergarments, before a particularly good looking young weyrling, and this was how she reacted? He smirked, she was fantastic. Most girls would have blushed, dived for cover even, yet she was unaffected – almost.

"I done no such thing, I just came here the exact same as you did my dear."
As he laughed the brunette barely managed to prevent herself from gritting her teeth. So, he found all of this amusing, eh? Bah, could she expect anything else from a male?
"The exact same could be suspected of you, who knew that becoming a rider would mean girls presenting themselves to me drenched in their undergarments?" "A rider, you say? Odd, I'd never seen something like you up in the skies still. And I'm sure I would have notice and remembered you, you're quite a sight -- and a hard one to miss at that."
Never mind she had failed on seeing him arrive. She ignored his comment about girls in under garments, words entering one ear and escaping through the other. As he adjusted himself to a more comfortable position or maybe one he could get a better view from -- Erabel didn't knew nor cared -- she listened as the red head continued to talk. "I think is rather impolite to interrupt other people's privacy. So there, we're even." She gave a little more thought to the matter of introductions, weighting out if she really wanted to give her name to him. After a moment she relented. Though she would not admit it, he did seemed kind of amusing -- what with his vibrant colors and accessories.
"As for introductions, I'm Erabel. Now, humor me rider, what'd be your name and that of your dragon?"
She wasn't fully sure, perhaps he was a full-fledged rider and not a weyrling as she suspected. She hadn't really bothered to get to know the rest of the Candidates before the hatching. Still, she decided to stay with what her guts told her. And her guts told her he was no fully-fledged rider.

Smirking he decided he’d silence that witty tongue quickly, “Ez’ki, rider of the blue Xyruth, or rather I shall be when he has grown enough.” He smiled, gently, inclined his head in a mild and polite bow.
“Ah, Erabel, a very musical name, for one so bold.” He smiled gently, “I may be a bright one, but you’ve obviously not met my dragon, our newest weyrwoman likened him to lightning, Xyruth is a fine young dragon.” A slight fib wouldn’t hurt him, neither would omitting the fact the blue was an over excited bouncy blue, not a typically sedate blue. Nor would he mention how he was incredibly determined was little Xyruth, unlike his bonded. “And yet you missed me walking in her it seems? Perhaps observances skills are not something you should boast upon having.” He suggested in a light hearted manner, a devious smile still on his lips.
He mused on her words for a moment, “It is indeed rude to interrupt another’s privacy, however you are as quite upon that mark as I am myself.” Pausing momentarily to allow her thought, then he continued “So perhaps we are not on quite such an even keel after all, Erabel?"

Hah, he was a Weyrling! Her lips tugged at the sides into a faint smile, pleased that her intuition had been right. His polite bow wasn't unseen, as well, a faint detail the female found amusing. Well, perhaps he was a bit more respectful than she had originally given him credit for? Maybe. The complement on her name was not unnoticed either, and the female gave a faint nod in gratitude. "Lightning? Hmm... Xyruth sure sounds interesting." Compared to lightning? The blue's hide must have been remarkably shiny then -- or so she thought. The thought of lightning being a description more for the dragon's personality didn't cross her mind -- after all, blues were known to be quite quiet. A few could even be lazy sometimes!
“And yet you missed me walking in her it seems? Perhaps observances skills are not something you should boast upon having.”
Her faint smile turned into a more visible scowl, gaze focused on the devious smile playing on his lips. "I had my eyes closed, that's why I didn't see you." A faint hmph as the female crossed her arms together, watching the Weyrling.
“It is indeed rude to interrupt another’s privacy, however you are as quite upon that mark as I am myself. So perhaps we are not on quite such an even keel after all, Erabel?" "I don't know what you mean by that. I've certainly not sneaked up behind you while you were relaxing in a lake."
Stubborn? Just a tad bit, I suppose. She refused to let him get away with any reason -- even if it meant acting a bit childish on her part.

Ez’ki smirked, she was incredibly feisty, did not like to be proved wrong, perhaps the term stubborn was a little on the modest side in reference to Erabel. He smiled slowly, gently edging himself into an explanation, “Well I apologise for startling you, I did not mean to interrupt you, and I doubt you meant to be here to disturb me, thus both incidents are negligible, and counteract the other, but still my most profound apologies exist, solely to you, Erabel.” He dipped his head, his smile still present, tawny eyes vivid, and focused only upon her.
He straightened, and stretched back, rolling his tired shoulders – I’dalyn was working them hard, as though their hatchlings were not working them quite hard enough?
Stifling a yawn, he peered up at the sky, a few lazy streaks of cloud passing overhead, Ez’ki’s thoughts returned to the idle movement the clouds took, envy was given at their freedom, and their lack of a hurry. He smirked to himself, perhaps he was a cloud, marking the perfectly crystal, blue sky. If that were the case, I’dalyn and the other weyrling staff were a tornado, whisking him into their grasps, whirling and whirling about him with a feverish pace. Ez’ki just hoped there would be something of his ‘cloud’ left when the cyclone finished.

"Apologies accepted, Weyrling."
The female grinned, giving the male a playful wink to show she really meant no harm -- Erabel was just having a good time. After all, one had to find ways to amuse one another in a Weyr, as well as to enjoy the little free time one was given inbetween so many chores. The silent moment was not only enjoyed by Ez'ki, but Eabel herself relaxed as she felt the water overlap her shoulders every now and then. It was good to relax for a while and, though she had not expected company, the female had to agree it could have turned out worst.
"So, Ez'ki was it? How's it like to be a Weyrling?"
She hadn't turned to look at him, her gaze focused on the lake and the reflection of the clouds upon its surface instead. She had seen the hatching, though she had been unable to stand this time. She'd arived too late due to being far on the other side of Telgar Weyr when it had all started, and the Headwoman had been the first to stop her. Instead she had been working most of the time, cutting up the pieces of meat that were placed on buckets for the new weyrlings to feed their bonds.
She'd considered it rather unfair, but it had been her fault to begin with. The Headwoman had told her not to go too far away during those days, that one never knew when the Hatching might have started. Still, it did not meant the female didn't felt a faint bitterness at the sight of Weyrlings and their bonds.
They were so lucky to have those dragonets...

Ez'ki smiled, his mind turning back from the clouds to the blue of his bonded. The pair were intimately linked in his mind, so it was not hard to relate them. "Yes, my name is Ez'ki." He certified her with a sigh, He searched in his mind for the right word his eyes still staring listlessly at the sky. "It. It is hard." He clarified, though he felt that one didn't quite encompass the amass of chores, of responsibility, after all he had another complete life dependent upon him. It was such an unusual thing to have something so constantly, so intimately linked to you that it knew everything you thought, could respond to it, and react to it.
"It's a full time, and over time job. Xyruth's only small, so I can't imagine what it would be like to be bonded to a Bronze, or a Gold, for that matter." His mind drifted for a moment towards Sassie, and Deoneth, he was quite bitter -still- over the argument they had almost had at the hatching feast.
But he was brought back to reality, and the first thing he noticed was her longing. He cocked his head a little curious gaze turning back to her once more. "Forgive me if I broach upon a sore subject, but you seem as though you long to stand." He said, his voice soft, careful upon where his verbal feet were stepping, "Why didn't you?" He asked, his curiosity getting the better of him.

It was a hard task...
Of course it was, it had to be. A hatchling depended upon you for feedings, making sure their skin did not crack as they grew more and more... It was like taking care of a newborn baby, except that this one was linked with you in a way no one else could ever hope to be. This being could understand you, read your most intimate thoughts, agree or disagree with you, comfort you... Dragonriders really were right to call them their other half of their soul.
"Forgive me if I broach upon a sore subject, but you seem as though you long to stand. Why didn't you?"
She'd been focused with her thoughts, her attention brought back to the current matter by Ez'ki's words. She thought for a moment, wondering just how to answer his question.
"Well... As weyrborn I should have been there in the sands among all the other girls. Still, it's really my own fault for not being careful. The Headwoman had warned me the time for the eggs to hatch was coming nearer and, though she still gave me chores, she always warned me not to go too far away. Well, I was getting the wherries for the evening meal, and one of them jumped the fence and ran off. I chased after it and... Well, let's just say that bird knew how to defend itself. So while you guys were in the sands, I was getting bandaged and cleaned -- before heading off to prepare the first meal for your Xyruth and the others."
She gave a faint grin, shaking her head lightly at the memory. The wound had almost finished healing by now. Only a white line was left on her right side, close to her thigh, to remember the girl of the incident with that feather-brained beast
"I don't blame the Headwoman, though. I had it coming. I should have just gone back and informed someone else of the escaped wherry, instead of chasing after it. And, there's always a next time..."

Ez’ki felt a little sorry for her now, “Wow, that was poor luck. Though it was probably best you didn’t stand, Deoneth’s bonded was always going to be Sassie- I mean Salina.” He said correcting himself, one because he didn’t think anyone other than he knew her by that name, and two because it made him sound deceptively close to her, which at the moment he obviously wasn’t. Undoubtedly they would make up at some point. Likely at the utterance of his own words, or cause, for she would be a true gold rider in that fact, she wouldn’t bow to him, and apologise, never. Besides, Ez’ki was far too loyal to his close friends, and he couldn’t bear arguing with her. All of this because he had warned her off of the Weyrleader, and suggested what should have been obvious to all but the naive.
“But strange how a drift-ward wherry can change your fate, perhaps it was all for luck, Perhraps Faranth knows better, and you shall impress grandly at the next hatching Erabel.” He hoped for her sake she did, she would likely find it hard to be a weyrbred candidate, who would not impress, but then it was different for girls. Girls only were allowed to ride Golds, and well there was a quota for those, and it was miniscule. So, surely she recognised that? “I guess it is hard for the Headwoman around the time of the hatching, it must be like all hands to the wheel or such lark.” He said aloud his thoughts, tone pensive as he thought of how he would even less like to be in control of the kitchens. Responsibility was something Ez’ki was not big on. “But you have my luck for whenever you do chose to stand,” He assured her with a charming smile.

"Yeah, it was quite a bit of bad luck. But hey, you're right. Deoneth was meant for Salina, so maybe it was best for me not to be there. Maybe I would have ended up mauled or Faranth knows what."
Yes, girls were limited to Golds, and it was something Erabel knew very well. Still, the girl had a desire to bond with a dragon, to find a soul mate that would be hers and hers alone. Perhaps she was being selfish, but she craved that connection with every cell in her system. A faint smile lined her lips, the nickname used by Ez'ki having been noticed. Erabel opted to not ask, however. After all, she hardly knew the man to be intruding into his personal life.
"Your luck is greatly appreciated, and next time not even Faranth herself will stop me from standing." A playful wink was given, the female's back resting against the rock. "Still, I'd love to meet Xyruth sometime. I'm sure he's gorgeous." A change of conversation, to keep it moving along.
